Natural conditions in Shaxi Township

Shaxi Township is located in the upper reaches of Oujiang River, a tributary of Xiaoxigou. The whole terrain is called "two mountains and one ditch", which gradually inclines from southwest to northeast, with overlapping mountains and numerous peaks. The town is located in the upper reaches of the creek valley. Yingchuan Port, which originated in Longquan County, and Mao Ge Port, which originated in Qingyuan County, both joined the river here. Shawan 13km, the largest tributary of Oujiang River, is open to traffic all year round. In the past, when the expressway was underdeveloped, this waterway was a very important transportation artery. Sailing boats, bamboo rafts and rafts can connect Qingtian and Wenzhou, and the trade of goods on both sides of the stream is very prosperous. At that time, it was the distribution center of bamboo and wood, mountain products and Wenzhou in the southwest mountainous area of Jingning County. Especially in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, businessmen from Qingtian, Shouning and Lanxi settled here to do business and prospered for a while, so they were called Shawanbu. After several years of rapid development, the land transportation network has been relatively perfect and has become the first choice for cargo transportation. Water transport, which played a great role in those years, has become smaller and smaller and incomparable. Recently, Qingjingqing Highway runs through the town from east to west, connecting Lishui, Qingtian, Taishun and Wencheng counties along Xiaoxidong, entering Qingyuan County in the south, turning to Yingchuan Town and Longquan City in the west, and turning north.
