Introduction to Mount Putuo

Putuo Mountain is the Dojo of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and it has the reputation of "Haitian Buddha Country".

Fusaiji, Fayu Temple and Huiji Temple, as well as the 33-meter-high Guanyin statue in the South China Sea, are the scenic spots that tourists and pilgrims don't want to miss. Putuo Island is located in the east of Zhoushan Island, and there is no road with the outside world. You can only take a boat to Putuo Mountain Pier. The whole island is strip-shaped, about 7 kilometers long. The distance between scenic spots on the island varies from 2- 10 km. Nearer scenic spots can be reached on foot, and those farther away can take the island's tourist bus at the passenger station next to the pier. In addition, Foding Mountain on the island can be visited by cableway.

The scenic spots in Putuo Mountain Scenic Area are mainly distributed in three areas, each with its own characteristics.

These can be played together for about half a day in each area. Visitors can arrange their trips according to their accommodation and the time of arrival on the island.

Among them, Fossett is the largest temple in the whole island and the main temple dedicated to Guanyin in the whole mountain. Next to Fosaki is one of the three treasures of Putuo Mountain. There are many scenic spots in the Western Heaven Scenic Area, such as Pantuo Stone, Xinshi Stone and Meifu Temple.

33-meter-high Nanhai Guanyin: The 33-meter-high Nanhai Guanyin statue is a landmark building of Putuo Mountain, which can be seen from a distance in many places on the island. Visitors can walk to the foot of the Buddha statue and feel its solemn practice at close range. When the weather is clear, the statue made of gold and copper looks shiny and low-key under the sunlight, giving people a calm power.

Many pagodas near Putuo Mountain are made of Taihu stone. The pagodas are beautiful and worth seeing.

Multi-Pagoda: Pagoda is located at the southern end of Hai Yin Pool. It is a five-story square tower with a height of18m. It has a twin-tower base and a three-story tower body. It has a platform without eaves, and it is all made of Taihu stone, which is very beautiful. The pagoda was rebuilt by Fu Zhong, a Buddhist monk in the Yuan Dynasty, and funded by Prince Wang Xuan and other princes in the south of the Yangtze River.
