Qidong belongs to Nantong. Qidong is located at the southeast end of Jiangsu Province, on the north bank of the Yangtze River estuary. It faces the sea and rivers and is surrounded by water on three sides. It looks like a peninsula. Jianghai coastline 178km, deep-water coastline 30km and middle-deep-water coastline 20km of the Yangtze River. It is bounded by the north branch of the Yangtze River estuary in the south, the center of the Yangtze River in the east, Yonglongsha in Chongming District of Shanghai in the west, and Chongqi Bridge is connected with Chongming Island in Shanghai.

Qidong belongs to the humid climate zone in the north subtropical zone, with obvious maritime monsoon climate characteristics, distinct four seasons, abundant sunshine, mild temperature, abundant rain, long frost-free period, warm spring flowers and crisp autumn air.

Qidong is a coastal alluvial plain with flat terrain and no hills. The terrain is slightly undulating, high in the north and low in the south, and gradually inclines from the northwest to the southeast coast. The average ground slope is about1/300m, and the east-west slope is about1/43500m.
