What should I do if there is a fault prompt on the vehicle in rainy and snowy weather?

For SAIC Volkswagen equipped with the front auxiliary system, the front auxiliary system fault information may appear on the instrument cluster when driving, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. This prompt appears not because the vehicle is out of order, but because the system is temporarily shut down.

The following briefly introduces the functions of the front auxiliary system. There are two kinds of front assist systems, one is adaptive cruise control system (ACC) and the other is automatic brake assist system (AEB).

The basic function of ACC is to keep the distance from the vehicle in front set by the driver. If the distance between cars is greater than the driver's set value, the car will accelerate until the speed reaches the driver's set value. If the distance between cars is less than the value set by the driver, cars will slow down, which can be achieved by reducing output power, shifting gears or applying brakes when necessary. Because the operation of accelerator pedal and brake pedal is reduced, the driving comfort can be obviously improved.

The basic function of AEB is to warn the driver of collision, prepare for emergency braking when the car is in danger, help the driver to brake and start automatic braking.

A radar sensor is installed at the lower position of the air intake grille or the front bumper at the front of the vehicle to measure the distance from the front vehicle and the speed of the front vehicle. The sensor is affected by external factors, and the system will be temporarily shut down. For example, it rains and snows in winter in northern China, and the rain and snow will cover the Volkswagen hood in front of the sensor (as shown in Figure 3).

For safety reasons, this function will be temporarily turned off, and the instrument cluster will give an alarm prompt, for example, the sensor of the front auxiliary system has no data, which is normal. When the weather improves, clean up the public sign in front, turn off the fire and restart. If the troubleshooting tips still exist, please go to the nearest SAIC Volkswagen dealer for inspection. The road is slippery in rainy and snowy weather, so slow down and pay attention to safety.
