Xingtai City, referred to as "Xing" for short, was called Xingzhou and Shunde in ancient times. It is a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province, located in the south of Hebei Province. Taihang Mountain borders Shanxi Province in the west, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the east, Shandong Province in the north, Shijiazhuang and Hengshui in the north and Handan in the south. It is the northern gateway city of Zhongyuan urban agglomeration and an important node city of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration.

Beijing-Guangzhou railway runs through the junction of hills and plains from north to south, with mountains and hills in the west and plains in the east.

Wei Canal is the boundary river between Hebei and Shandong provinces, starting from Xuwancang, where the river meets the hub of Sinu Temple. The river flows into the urban area from Linxi Jianzhong, goes north along the border between Linxi and Qinghe counties, and leaves the country at Qinghe Ferry, with a length of 58 kilometers.

Xingtai City is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain. With good metallogenic geological conditions and rich mineral resources, it is one of the largest resource-based cities in the province. At present, 47 kinds of minerals have been discovered, 36 kinds are being developed and utilized, and 28 kinds of minerals with proven reserves are listed in the provincial reserve balance table. The dominant minerals are coal, iron, gypsum, limestone for cement, rock salt and clay, among which magnesite, clay, kyanite and rock salt are unique to the whole province.
