According to meteorologists, the destructive power and influence of mangosteen are enormous, and mangosteen may be removed from the World Meteorological Organization.
So, what do you mean "Mangosteen" is removed from the list? How is it named?
How is a typhoon named?
The northwest Pacific is a high-producing area of typhoons, and as many as 6 or 7 typhoons land in China every year. Before the international unified naming rules came into being, countries and regions around the western Pacific had different names for typhoons here. The same typhoon may have several different names.
For example, in China, the four codes are numbered according to the place and time of occurrence, with the first two digits being the year and the last two digits being the sequence number. The typhoon centers of the Asia-Pacific Regional Professional Meteorological Observatory under the World Meteorological Organization in Tokyo, Japan, are numbered in the order of east longitude 180 degrees and north of the equator. The Joint typhoon warning center, the Guam Navy of the United States, is named after the British and American countries, and Guam is also commonly used in international media reports. Some countries or regions have their own names for typhoons that affect this area.
So in order to avoid the confusion of names, we developed a new naming method: make a naming table in advance, and then recycle it year after year in sequence.
The new typhoon naming method was put into use from June 65438+1October 65438+1October 2000. The World Meteorological Organization authorized the Japan Meteorological Agency, as a regional professional meteorological center, to issue tropical cyclone forecast information in the northwest Pacific as an international standard. At the same time, the Typhoon Committee of the World Meteorological Organization decided to draw lessons from the experience of naming typhoons in the United States and formulate a new typhoon naming system.
The naming table in the system is provided by 14 countries and regions in the northwest Pacific region and its surrounding areas, and each country or region provides 10 names, and one * * * is 140 names.
These 140 names are compiled into five lists, each with 28 names. All numbered typhoons are named in turn according to these five lists, and the following year is followed by the previous year. When the names in the fifth list are used up, it will start with the 1 list, and so on.
China's ten names are: Anemone, Jade Rabbit, Fengshen, Rhododendron, Hippocampus, Wukong, White Deer, Poseidon, Dian Mu and Haitang.
Top ten names in China and Hong Kong: Kai Tak, High Island, Phoenix, Cai Yun, Ma 'an, Shanshan, Lingling, White Dolphin, Lion Mountain and Banyan Tree;
Top ten names in China and Macau: samba, butterfly, bumblebee, fireworks, plum blossom, babe, pipa, lotus, agate and coral.
Typhoons will also be delisted.
But the name of typhoon will not last forever, and it will be retired one day. For example, the "Mangosteen" that has just passed may not escape the fate of retirement.
When a typhoon causes a major disaster to one or more countries and regions, the member countries that have suffered losses may apply to the World Meteorological Organization for permanent lifting of the typhoon. Delete is to make people remember its uniqueness.
Generally speaking, the delisted typhoon has the characteristics of strong landing intensity, large disaster losses and heavy casualties. For example, in 2005, Typhoon Wang Long 19, Typhoon Haiyan/20 13 and Typhoon Moranti/20 16 all caused great losses to China. Because of their destructive power, they have been officially removed from the list and retired.
However, there are a few typhoons that are not very strong but special enough, such as Tropical Storm Thrushcross at 200 1, which is the closest typhoon to the equator in history.
At present, Typhoon Mangosteen has been stopped by the Central Meteorological Observatory. According to meteorologists, "Mangosteen" may be removed from the World Meteorological Organization.
If mangosteen is on fire, it can be said that it is quite short-lived This year is only the second time to use the name "Mangosteen". It is worth mentioning that its predecessor "Durian" was also delisted when it appeared for the second time. Thailand proposed its successor "Mangosteen" in the following year, which was used 1 time in 20 13 years.
Super typhoon durian was the tropical cyclone No.21in the Pacific typhoon season in 2006. "Durian" is a name provided by Thailand and a favorite fruit of Thai people. Due to the great disaster caused by durian, at the 39th meeting of the Typhoon Committee of the World Meteorological Organization held from 4 to 9 February 2006, it was decided to stop using the name durian and replace it with "Mangosteen".
After Mangosteen was born, it was not easy for everyone to predict this typhoon, but I didn't expect it to be strong enough to beat Yan Fei and Florence in the Atlantic Ocean.
