Why did Lanling change its name to Zaozhuang?

Lanling was not renamed Zaozhuang. Lanling is located in Lanling County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, while Zaozhuang is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, and the eastern part of Zaozhuang is adjacent to Lanling County. Lanling County is located in the south of Shandong Province, at the intersection of coastal opening and the development of Huanghuaihai Plain. It is the earliest county in Shandong Province.

Lanling has obvious location advantages and convenient traffic conditions. Located in the hinterland of Rizhao Port and Lianyungang, it has good industrial radiation reception conditions. Roads crisscross and extend in all directions.

Lanling is located in the southern edge of the low mountains and hills in southern Shandong, and the terrain gradually decreases from northwest to southeast, followed by low mountains, hills, plains and depressions.

Lanling belongs to the continental climate of warm temperate monsoon region, which is characterized by long dry and cold winter and scarce rain and snow. It is windy and dry in spring, hot and rainy in summer, and often threatened by drought or even rainy weather in autumn.

The origin of Zaozhuang's name

The name of Zaozhuang is related to a village called Zaozhuang, which was formed in the Tang and Song Dynasties and was named after a large number of jujube trees in the village. Zaozhuang is known as the Pearl of Southern Shandong with a long history and culture. As early as more than 7,000 years ago, human beings flourished in Zaozhuang City, creating a splendid northern new culture.

During the Spring and Autumn Period, small countries such as Xue Guo, Teng Guo and Zhi Guo were distributed in Zaozhuang. In 380 BC, the State of Chu occupied the second pavilion of the State of Lu, and designated it as Lanling County, and its former site is now Lanling Town of Lanling County.

During the Warring States Period, Zaozhuang City had not yet appeared. Today, part of Zaozhuang area belongs to Lanling County. For example, in the Qin Dynasty, Zaozhuang belonged to Lanling County and Yongxian County in Tan County in the east, Fuyang County in the south, Xue County and Qixian County in Xue County in the west and Tengxian County in the north.

In other words, Lanling is much older than Zaozhuang, and Lanling is very famous. During the Southern Dynasties, Xiao Daocheng and Xiao Yan of Qi and Liang Dynasties were successively established, and their counties were all Lanling; Gao Changgong, son of Sejong Gao Cheng in the Northern Qi Dynasty, was named Warrior Lanling, hence the name Warrior Lanling. The poet Li Bai has a poem: "lanling wine tulips, jade bowls full of amber light."

Carry forward the name of lanling. Although there were many Lanling counties in the past dynasties, the county governance was not fixed and the division changed quite frequently. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the place names of Lanling have disappeared, and now Lanling County is called Cangshan County.

At that time, Zaozhuang City had not yet appeared, and there was Yixian, the predecessor of Zaozhuang, not far from the south of Zaozhuang City. The name of yi county began in the fourth year of Jin Zhenyou (12 16), which was located in Yicheng District of Zaozhuang City, and was reduced to yi county in the Ming Dynasty.
