Mazu, a strange girl who was awarded the Goddess of World Peace by the United Nations, is also a traditional folk belief circulating in the coastal areas of China. Mazu culture originated in Song Dynasty, became famous in Yuan Dynasty, flourished in Ming Dynasty, flourished in Qing Dynasty and flourished in modern times. According to a fellow traveler named Apollo in Shanwei, the reason why Shanwei built this Mazu Tempel is because Mazu has the reputation of "Poseidon" and "escort goddess". Before going out to sea, local fishermen should offer sacrifices to Mazu before the ship sails, pray for a safe journey and set up a shrine for Mazu on board. The statue is16.83m high and weighs about1000t. It is composed of 468 high-quality granite stones from Mazu's hometown of Fujian, and it is the largest statue of Mazu in the world.

Coincidentally, since the stone statue was built more than 20 years ago, it has been in good weather, and the typhoon has never hit Shanwei head-on. Many citizens think that this is Mazu's epiphany.
