Where is Xianxiang?

Xianxiang ancient town, in fact, basically has no ancient town style, leaving only memories of ancient history.

The highway from downtown Ningbo to Xianxiang Town is 42 kilometers long and needs to pass through Dongqian Lake, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers. On the way, the green hills are far away and the scenery is beautiful. After the rain, an empty mountain stands on an autumn night. In the mountainous areas of the south of the Yangtze River in late autumn, rice fields, buffaloes and kitchen smoke are still lush.

Xianxiang was called Songnan in ancient times (located in the south of Dasong). In ancient times, this was a shallow bay. During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, immigrants used the high mound on the beach to cook salt, hence the name Yanchang. The place name "Xianxiang" is transformed from the homonym of "Yanchang". During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (also known as Guangxu period), the village was changed to "salty incense", which means "good luck" because the salt field was far away. Xianxiang Town was approved to be established as an organic town on 1986, when it was the resident of Dasong District Office. When 1992 expanded and merged, Xianxiang Town merged with Qiushan Township, and at the same time withdrew from Dasong District.

At present, Xianxiang Town is one of the 20 towns in Yinzhou District. Xiangshan Port is adjacent to the estuary in the east, Fuquan Mountain in the north, Xiangshan County across the harbor in the southeast, Fenghua City in the southwest, Beilun in the northeast and Dongqian Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Zhejiang Province in the northwest, with a distance of only 18km. Known as the "seaside town".

The town covers an area of 64.54 square kilometers. The town is rich in lint and marine resources, with fertile land, 30,000 mu of cultivated land, 30,000 mu of forest and 30,000 mu of shallow sea beaches.

Superior natural environment: Xianxiang Town has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, mild climate and abundant sunshine. The annual average temperature 16.2℃, the annual average precipitation 1389.3mm, the annual average relative humidity of 79%, and the annual average wind speed of 6m/s. The dominant wind directions are southeast wind and northwest wind, with mountains and seas at the back and pleasant natural environment.

Convenient transportation: only 30 minutes' drive from Beilun Port and 45 kilometers from lishe airport, Ningbo. After the Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge and the coastal passage are fully connected, it only takes 2 hours to drive to Shanghai, with convenient land, sea and air transportation.

Xianxiang Temple, Yang Gong Temple

Yang Yi, a magistrate of Yinxian County, is from Pucheng, Shaanxi Province. In February of the fifth year of Yongzheng [1727], he was appointed as the magistrate of Yinxian County. After working in Yin for 27 months, I came to Xianxiang area in Yinzhou District many times to lead people to build water conservancy, dredge rivers and build seawalls. Finally, he broke down from overwork and could not afford to get sick. He died in May of the seventh year of Yongzheng [1729] at the age of 36.

After Yang Yi's death, his family was bare and poor, and people called him an honest official. When people in Xianxiang heard that Yang Yi had died, they came on foot in the starry night, helped the coffin to cover it, and cried bitterly, which made the viewers cry.

Later, Xianxiang villagers spontaneously raised funds to build a temple for him, and built Yang Gong Temple next to Xianyang Temple, which was later destroyed in the 1960s. It was rebuilt on the basis of the original site in 2005 and completed in February 2006. In order to commemorate this good county magistrate who benefited the people, the people of Xianxiang donated money spontaneously, and it didn't cost the government a penny. It was built by local craftsmen in Xianxiang, and its architectural style is quite local. In the future, documents such as "Yang Gong Inscription" and "Yin Zhengzheng" will be preserved.
