Huanglong Scenic Area is located under Xuebaoding, the main peak of Minshan Mountain in Songpan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It consists of Huanglong headquarters and Munigou. The origin of the name "Huanglong": The spectacular surface calcium flow in Huanglong Scenic Area winds in the virgin forest, resembling a golden dragon, soaring in the world, hence the name "Huanglong". Huanglong Scenic Area is famous for its "four wonders" of colorful ponds, snow-capped mountains, canyons and forests. It is the only well-protected plateau wetland in China.

The overall feature of the landform in Huanglong area is that the mountains are high and the valleys are steep. Its characteristic is that tind is like a forest with vertical and horizontal ridges; Deep canyons and steep cliffs; Branching the source of the river, straight south and curved north.

Huanglong is the intersection of units in space. Structurally, it is located at the junction of three tectonic units: Yangtze paraplatform, Songpan-Ganzi fold system and Qinling geosyncline fold system. Geomorphologically, it belongs to the front of the ridge of the second geomorphic terrace in China, and the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau meets the western mountainous area of Sichuan Basin.

Huanglong Scenic Area belongs to the monsoon climate type of plateau temperate sub-cold zone. The climatic characteristics are: wet and cold, long winter in a year, few summer days, and spring and autumn are connected.

There are clear Quaternary glacial remains in Huanglong area above 3000 meters above sea level, especially in Xuebaoding area, the main peak of Minshan Mountain. It is characterized by comprehensive types, dense distribution and the easternmost part.
