Planting method and time of bitter gourd

Planting time: The planting time of bitter gourd is different in different regions. Generally, it is planted in the south1-March, and in the north from March to April. Because of the warmer climate in the south, it is mostly planted in the open air, while the cold climate in the north is mostly planted in greenhouses or greenhouses.

Technical points: select seeds with good quality, high yield and strong disease resistance, select fertile and loose soil, sow in time, keep the soil moist, prevent waterlogging in rain period, and apply fertilizer appropriately in flowering and fruiting period.

Cultivation method:

First, seed treatment.

Anyone who has eaten bitter gourd knows that there are sticky substances on the surface of bitter gourd seeds, and the skin is hard, so the seeds should be treated first. Soaking bitter gourd seeds in warm water of 50-60 degrees for about 20 minutes can not only soften their epidermis, but also kill some bacteria. Then soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours, take out the seeds, remove the surface mucus, wrap them with a wet towel, and put them in an environment of about 30 degrees to accelerate germination.

Second, sow.

Bitter gourd has strong adaptability and low requirements for soil, but it grows well in fertile and loose soil and has high yield. In order to accelerate germination 2-3 days after sowing, direct seeding in the open field is usually adopted. Dig pits before sowing, each pit is 2-3 cm deep, and each pit needs 1-2 seeds. Don't cover the soil too deeply, and cover the soil shallowly by 0.5- 1cm.

Third, fertilizer and water management.

Bitter gourd seeds require high fertilizer and water at seedling stage, growth stage and maturity stage, so it is necessary to keep the soil moist at all times, especially in the morning and evening of high temperature season. Bitter gourd seeds have average waterlogging tolerance and should not be watered too much at a time.

In long-term rainy and rainstorm weather, drainage measures should be taken to ensure that the fields will not be flooded, and low temperature control water should be paid attention to when planting to improve the cold resistance of plants. Bitter gourd seeds are usually fertilized once a week during their growth and maturity, which can promote the growth and yield of plants.
