1984, Mandu Baolige left the Reclamation Bureau and returned to Wudongqi to become Sumu (township); Hersgoura (formerly 53rd regiment) herders ran back to Wudong Banner and redistributed grassland grazing in Baolige Sumu and other places. At this point, the Wulagai Agricultural Management Branch (5,000 square kilometers) is under the jurisdiction of the Ximeng government.
Wulagai Development Zone was established in Inner Mongolia in 2000 and revoked by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2004.
After 2004, it was renamed as Wulagai Management Zone, directly under the jurisdiction of Ximeng Government. Dongwuzhumuqin Banner governs 5 towns and 4 sumu:
Towns: Wuliyastai Town, Daotenaoer Town, Gadabuqi Town, Ejinaer Town and Mandu Hubaolage Town; Sumu: Samai Sumu, Huretu Naoer Sumu, Gahaile Sumu and alatan Heli Sumu. Wuzhumuqin sheep: produced in Wuzhumuqin grassland of Inner Mongolia, it belongs to short-fat-tailed coarse-wool sheep with both meat and fat, and is famous for its large body and tail, rich meat and fat, and rapid development of lamb production.
