Zhangping is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province.

Zhangping (formerly Ningyang County, Zhangping County, Zhangzhou City) is located in the southwest of Fujian Province, on the upper reaches of the Jiulong River (Beixi), between 24° 54′-25° 47′ north latitude and 117 east longitude. Between ° 11′-117° 44′. Located at the east gate of western Fujian, it borders Yongchun and Anxi to the east, and Hua'an and Anxi to the south.

Zhangping was established as a county in the seventh year of Chenghua (1471) in the Ming Dynasty. In 1990, the county was removed and established as a city. The Zhangzhou dialect, Zhangping dialect, is widely used among Hokkien dialects (in some areas, such as Xin'an Xinqiao, which is close to Quanzhou, the Quan dialect is spoken). Topography

Zhangping is located at the junction of Daiyun Mountain, Guijia Mountain and Boping Ridge. Jiangbei River runs through the middle part of Zhangping, dividing Zhangping into north and south parts. The terrain slopes toward the central valley from south to north, forming a saddle shape. On both sides of the central Yangtze River, Zhangping City has gentle valleys and hills. It is bounded by Xinqiao River in the north, the southwest slope of the southern end of Daiyun in the east, and the southeast slope of Tortoiseshell Mountain in the west. The two slopes face each other, forming a narrow Xinqiao valley.

Climate

Zhangping has a subtropical monsoon climate, while the Central Valley is affected by the oceanic monsoon and has a south subtropical climate. It has the characteristics of being warm and humid, with abundant rainfall, short winters without severe cold, long summers without severe heat, obvious vertical climate, distinct dry and wet seasons, and frequent occurrence of disastrous weather.
