Where is Shapotou in Ningxia?

Shapotou is located in Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, at the southeast edge of Tengger Desert, where the flora of grassland desert, Central Asia and North China Loess Plateau meet. Shapotou covers an area of10.3 million hectares, and the main protection targets are Tengger desert landscape, natural sand-dust vegetation and its wild animals. In 1980s, the tourism department found Shapotou has a unique landscape and built it into a distinctive tourist area.

One of the characteristics of Shapotou tourist area is sand sliding. Tourists slide down from the top of Shapotou, which is about 100 meters high. Due to the special geographical environment and geological structure, there will be a strange noise under the seat when sliding sand, such as a huge bell and drum, which is dull and vigorous, and is called "Jinsha ringing the bell".

The second feature is that the vast Tengger Desert is located in the north of Shashan Mountain. South of Shashan is a lush desert oasis. Visitors can enjoy the scenery of the big desert here, overlooking baotou-lanzhou railway, like a green dragon stretching into the distance; You can also walk in the desert by camel, take a photo and enjoy the taste of desert travel.

The third feature is to cross the river to the other side in the turbulent Yellow River with the ancient crossing tool sheepskin raft. This kind of sheepskin raft, commonly known as "raft", is a raft made of more than a dozen "rafts", which can be carried by one person, and then the torn sheepskin is tied to the mouth and blown by the mouth to make it swell. It is very interesting for tourists to sit on the "raft" and the rafters are rowing along the raft.

Visit Shapotou

Shapotou, located in Zhongwei, Ningxia, is the first stop of our trip. Shapotou, someone here has already been there and learned something in advance from chatting. However, seeing is believing. It was not until I went there myself this time that I really got a little impression of it.

I bought a new map of China that day. After a careful look, I was surprised that the latitude of Ningxia Zhongwei was actually higher than that of Qinghai Lake in Lanzhou, Gansu and Xining.

Because the distance from Xi 'an to Zhongwei is long, and the hotel booked online has time limit, it can only be kept until 6 pm, so the time is a little tight. I got up early that morning and didn't want to cook by myself. My daughter drove to KFC to buy breakfast. Let's get everything ready together and hurry on the road. On the way, take a short rest in Binxian service area, Guyuan service area and Haixing service area of expressway, and arrive at Zhongwei reservation hotel around 5 pm. Everything is going well.

Shapotou Scenic Spot, located at the southeast edge of Tengger Desert, 20km west of zhongwei, Ningxia, was established on 1984, covering an area of 13000 hectares, and is a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The mountainous Qilian Mountains in the south, the Tengger Desert in Wan Li in the north, and the peaceful Yellow River flowing in the middle. In Shapotou, the Yellow River flows zigzag, forming a lush oasis between the desert and the river. Therefore, Shapotou Scenic Area has unique natural scenery, with a panoramic view of rivers, deserts, green hills and oases.

The main road in front of Shapotou Scenic Area is very magnificent. It is a long two-way eight-lane asphalt road, and the street lamps, greening and beautification facilities on both sides are also very beautiful, which makes people feel quite ambitious to strive for "the world's first".

Shapotou Scenic Area is divided into desert area and Yellow River area. You need to buy different tickets to get in. You need to buy tickets separately if you want to play all kinds of different events after admission. Moreover, all exciting projects are not allowed for the elderly to participate.

Shapotou battlefield is the largest natural sliding battlefield in China. Its sand is small and uniform, without any impurities. It's golden at first glance. It's really cute and touching! Here you can go sand skiing, experience the feeling of crossing the desert by camel and surf in the sand sea by off-road vehicle. Of course, you can also enjoy the lonely smoke in the desert and the wonders of the sunset in the long river.

In the Yellow River area, you can experience the Shapotou Yellow River zip line, the "world's first rope" crossing the Yellow River with a total length of 800 meters, and you can also experience the sheepskin raft, the oldest means of transportation on the Yellow River. In addition, there is a statue of Wang Wei, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty, and his famous sentence "Lonely smoke in the desert, the long river sets the yen". These two poems are from Wang Wei's To the Frontier, written in 736 AD. It is said that Wang Wei was ordered to comfort the soldiers who won the battle in Hexi. When passing through Shapotou, a Zhongwei in Ningxia, I couldn't help but be passionate about the magnificent scenery of the Yellow River in the desert, so I wrote a famous poem: "A bicycle who wants to ask the side is a country that has lived for a long time." Pengpeng also floated out of Korea, and the geese heading north also flew into the sky. The vast desert is lonely, and the Yellow River sets the yen. Xiao Guan rides it every time, and it is protected in Yanran. "

In addition, it is said that there are many farmhouses and entertainment facilities on that winding oasis. However, we didn't go there to play this time.

This time I stayed in Zhongwei, Ningxia for two nights, but the hotel I stayed in was in the new city of Zhongwei, so I still have no impression of the old city of Zhongwei. Zhongwei's new urban buildings are very new and beautiful, with wide streets, clean and tidy, good traffic control, good greening of cities and suburbs, and many trees and grasslands planted. It seems that the design idea is still very long-term. It's just that the streets are relatively deserted, showing fewer people and cars and lacking the daily life of ordinary people.

This time, the scenery I saw along the way in Ningxia seems to be similar. In front of us, there are often mountains in the distance. Those mountains are not too high, but most of them are pale white, which shows that the mountains themselves are still relatively barren. However, between the distant mountains and the road we drive, there are often some plains, which are often green here, and some trees stand up from time to time. Occasionally, I have seen big villages and many ordinary houses with red tiles and white walls, but the houses with flat roofs of cement precast slabs are rare. I have also seen some buildings with national characteristics. Seeing those buildings often has a strange feeling, and I don't understand what they are for. Unfortunately, many scenes were not recorded, and it was too late to flash by! In addition, some wind turbines have been seen on the road, and the lively white clouds in the sky are also worthy of appreciation.

Now, Shapotou has been far away from my life, but its charm, magic and ingenuity have been deeply engraved in my mind and will never be forgotten.
