Shangri-La is in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

Shangri-La, alias Shambhala and Paradise on Earth, is the city and capital of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. It is adjacent to Daocheng County and Muli County in Sichuan Province in the east, Yulong County, Weixi County and Deqin County in Lijiang City in Yunnan Province across the Jinsha River in the southeast, and adjacent to Derong County and Xiangcheng County in Sichuan Province in the northwest, with a total area of 1 16 13. Geographical location:

Shangri-La is located in the Yunnan-Sichuan-Tibet triangle in the northwest of Yunnan Province, in the hinterland of Shangri-La in Diqing. Shangri-La borders Daocheng County and Muli County in Sichuan Province. Lijiang City and Weixi County face each other across Jinsha River in the west and south, and Deqin County is separated by water in the north. Total area of city boundary 1 16 13 square kilometers.

Geological features:

Shangri-La is located in the east of Sanjiang Vertical Valley in Hengduan Mountains on the southeast edge of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Shaluli Mountain Range enters the county seat from Ganzi, Sichuan, and divides into two branches around the east and west sides of the county seat. Jinsha River enters the county from Tuzhaobi, flows south between Sasubi and Shigu in Jinjiang Township, and suddenly turns northeast until Rocky Jixin flows into Ping Zi, Sichuan, and surrounds the south of the county. Shangri-La has become a magnificent place with narrow ends and wide middle, snow-capped mountains as cities and beaches as pools. The general trend of the county topography is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, in which the highest point in balague is 5545 meters above sea level, and the lowest point in Luoji Jixin is 1503 meters above sea level, with a height difference of 4042 meters and an average elevation of 3459 meters.
