It borders Qingchengshan, a Taoist holy place, in the north, and Jiezi Ancient Town in western Sichuan in the south, and is connected by provincial highway s 106 (Western Sichuan Tourism Ring Road). Close to the World Heritage Area of Giant Panda Habitat, it has a climate and natural environment suitable for the survival of giant pandas.

The base is the only scientific research institution in China that focuses on the prevention and control of giant panda diseases and field rescue. The park is full of bamboo trees, bamboos and flowers, and the air is fresh. Coupled with lawns and winding paths, it is refreshing to step into them. The green three-star building (awarded the "Three-Star Green Building Certificate" by People's Republic of China (PRC) Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau on October 28th, 20 15) is ingeniously integrated with the natural environment, creating a good living environment for the giant panda.

Dujiangyan Base, Wolong Base of China Giant Panda Protection Research Center and Bifengxia Base of Ya 'an have built three demonstration platforms, namely ex situ conservation and in situ conservation of giant pandas, which have effectively coordinated the relationship between ecological protection and social and economic development on the basis of giving full play to the unique resources and international brands of giant pandas. The establishment of the pattern of "one center and three bases" will greatly promote the long-term protection, ecological protection and eco-economic development of the endangered species giant panda.
