The flight information and alert services in the flight information region are provided by the relevant air traffic control units, mainly aiming at the current situation, special circumstances and weather of air traffic in this region, especially the bad extreme weather conditions.

Different from the air defense identification zone, the flight information zone mainly focuses on air traffic control and flight information services. Air traffic service is the main component of air traffic management, including air traffic control service, flight information service and early warning service.

The task of air traffic control service is to prevent aircraft from colliding with obstacles in motor areas and to maintain and accelerate the orderly flow of air traffic. The task of flight information service is to provide suggestions and information to the aircraft in flight that are helpful to the safe and effective flight. The task of early warning service is to inform the relevant organizations of the need to search for and rescue aircraft, and to assist the organization or coordinate the work as needed.

Flight information region refers to the airspace designated for providing flight information service and alert service, including China's airspace, and the airspace established by China for providing air traffic service according to the international conventions it has concluded or acceded to. The delineation of flight information regions shall be conducive to the provision of flight information services and warning services, and shall be announced as required.
