Lijiang is located at the junction of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the northwest of Yunnan Province. Old Town of Lijiang was founded in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, with a history of more than 800 years. The ancient city covers a total area of about 3.8 square kilometers, and 1986 was listed as a national historical and cultural city. On February 4th, 1997 was listed in the World Cultural Heritage List. Located in ninglang county, Lugu Lake is one of the nine plateau lakes in Yunnan Province. The lake is 2685 meters above sea level, covering an area of 48.45 square kilometers, with an average water depth of 40.3 meters and the deepest point of 93.5 meters. Lugu Lake Scenic Area has been listed as a provincial nature reserve and a provincial tourist resort in Yunnan Province. One river is Jinsha River.
