On Suzhou

I went to Suzhou yesterday because of my personal affairs. It takes about ten minutes from Kunshan South Station to Suzhou Station. When you get off the high-speed train and walk out of Suzhou Station, you will see a city wall, which is also very imposing and has a unique temperament of Suzhou. The square in front of us is very big. Some people are taking pictures, some are walking and some are playing. It's sunny, but it's not hot or comfortable. The walls of the square are all white walls and black tiles, and the unique feeling of the water town is obvious.

Being unfamiliar with this place, I took a taxi to my destination. The houses along the way are not high, mostly white walls and black tiles. Suzhou government departments should have requirements for houses in order to preserve the characteristics of water towns. However, this black-and-white collocation is really eye-catching for us who have lived in reinforced concrete high-rise buildings for a long time. Small bridges and flowing willows seem to be a village rather than a city. The streets of Suzhou are not wide, and there are no large buildings that first-tier cities should have. The buildings in the whole city tend to be antique, with rows of white walls and clusters of black tiles, even at bus stops.

At the destination, it's almost noon. I hurried out in the morning, didn't eat, and was a little hungry. So I wanted to find a place to eat when I got off the bus. Every store has a small door, no stalls and no noisy advertisements. I walked a few blocks without seeing a restaurant, but occasionally I saw one. There are many people inside, and the entrance to the facade is small, which doesn't feel like the style of catering. Suddenly I feel that eating has become a problem in this city. Many shops in the street are closed, and restaurants are rarely seen. It seems that this city has experienced something that makes people eat for the sky. Finally, I found a noodle restaurant, went in and ordered a bowl of noodles at a price of 17 yuan. This price is not expensive in first-tier cities. The noodle restaurant business is very good and the seats are tight. I feel that many people are local residents, because most of the customers who eat are middle-aged, don't they all cook by themselves? The life festival in Suzhou is still slow, and you can't feel the fast festival in Shenzhen when you walk on the road. There are not many pedestrians, and scattered pedestrians are leisurely. There are not many people in the surrounding shops, only one pancake shop has a queue. The surrounding office building doesn't feel like an office, and there is no temperament that an office building should have. White walls and black tiles give people the impression that they are used for living and living.

I saw a shopping mall, but it was very unpopular. Accustomed to people coming and going in Shenzhen shopping malls, the shopping malls here in Suzhou give people a sense of desolation. After dinner, go shopping and do your own thing. It's time to get off work when things are done. When I came out, I saw many people driving electric cars to and from work. Everyone obeys the traffic rules. Both sides of the street are in the same direction, which seems to be two flowing lines. It will be beautiful to take pictures in the air. I have seen this kind of scenery in Nanjing before, and I didn't think much about it at that time. Suzhou at night is very comfortable. Some people are sitting on the stone embankment by the river to have a rest, take photos and blow. The willows on the side are floating in the wind, which is very harmonious and beautiful.

There are not many flowery words to describe Suzhou, because it is unnecessary. Suzhou's cities maintain a modern atmosphere in the ancient style, which is harmonious and appropriate.
