Brief introduction of Weihai

Weihai, a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, China, is located at the eastern end of Shandong Peninsula, bordering the Yellow Sea in the north, east and south, Liaodong Peninsula in the north, Korea Peninsula across the sea in the east and Yantai in Shandong Province in the west. The maximum horizontal distance from east to west is135km, and the maximum vertical distance from north to south is 8 1 km, with a total area of 5,797 square kilometers, including 777 square kilometers in the urban area. The coastline is 985.9 kilometers long. It governs Huancui District, Wendeng District, Rongcheng City and Rushan City.

Weihai is also called ahava, which means lofty maritime boundary. Weihai is the closest city in Chinese mainland to Japan and South Korea, the birthplace of China's first navy in modern times and the site of the Sino-Japanese War. After the Sino-Japanese War, Weihai was occupied by foreign powers and returned to the motherland.

Weihai is one of the "three seas and one gate". From 65438 to 0984, Weihai became the first batch of coastal open cities in China. 1990 was rated as the first batch of national health cities in China. 1996 was named as a national garden city by the Ministry of Construction.
