How do tornadoes form?

Tornadoes are water vapor that rises to the sky and turns into clouds when it is cold. The temperature of the cloud cluster is low, which cools the surrounding water vapor and reduces the volume of water vapor. The surrounding air and water vapor replenish the space. The rising water vapor under the cloud rises linearly, and the water vapor molecules shrink smaller and smaller when they are cold, showing a funnel shape. The cooling volume of rising water vapor molecules is shrinking, and the gas molecules under the cloud are constantly replenishing the space, resulting in strong winds. Because the cooling volume of water vapor is shrinking, the gas in the surrounding supply space comes unevenly, forming a tornado.

How to avoid a tornado?

1. When a tornado occurs, you should leave the dangerous house, activity place or other simple temporary residence immediately and take refuge in a relatively strong house nearby.

2. At home, be sure to stay away from doors, windows and external walls of houses and hide in the wall or small room opposite the tornado. At the same time, cover your body with a thick mattress or blanket to prevent you from being hurt by falling things.

If you are in the car, you should leave in time and take refuge in low-lying areas, because the car itself has no ability to defend against tornadoes. Once the car and people are caught up in a tornado at the same time, the harm is even greater.

4. When encountering a tornado in the wild, you should escape in the direction perpendicular to the tornado's forward route as quickly as possible. Those who have no time to escape should quickly find a low-lying place to get down. The correct posture is: face down, close your mouth and eyes, and protect your head with hands and arms.

5. When the tornado comes, stay away from trees, telephone poles, billboards, fences, etc. To avoid being smashed, crushed or electrocuted.

6. The safest place to avoid a tornado is the basement or semi-basement of a concrete building.
