What are the best places to eat and stay in Changbai Mountain Ski Resort?

When skiing in Changbai Mountain, you can choose Wanda or Luneng in the resort. Of course, in addition to skiing in Changbai Mountain, you can also see the rime or choose to see Changbai Mountain Tianchi. Of course, the most important thing is to take a bath spa. Two major ski resorts, Wanda

For ski enthusiasts, the first choice is definitely Wanda Resort. It has been established for a long time, has abundant hotel choices, complete catering and entertainment facilities, and has abundant ski trails of different difficulties.

Hotels

There are 9 hotels in Wanda Resort District, covering all grades. If you buy a room voucher, it usually includes breakfast for two, ski tickets and entertainment tickets, and some will also come with water park tickets.

The most cost-effective ones are definitely Holiday Inn Express and Ibis. For those who don’t have such high accommodation requirements, these two are the first choice. These two are next to each other, at the very back of the resort, next to the Guosong Ski Service Center, and the bus terminal is also here.

If you are traveling as a family or getting together with friends, we recommend the Holiday Inn Suites. You can choose from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or three-bedroom rooms, all of which have living rooms. They are suitable for large groups of people who gather together to be lively. And the location is also very good. There are many restaurants downstairs, Pizza Hut is on the first floor, and McDonald's is opposite. Even if you are traveling with two people, you can book a one-bedroom suite and have a kitchen that you can use yourself.

If you want to live well, Park Hyatt is definitely your first choice. The rooms in Park Hyatt are all in independent villas, and each building has many room types to choose from. Park Hyatt also has an outdoor hot spring pool with few people and good water quality. After skiing, soaking in a hot spring in the ice and snow is such a luxurious enjoyment.

If you want to ski in and ski out

choose Hyatt. This is the hotel closest to the ski slopes in the entire resort, and you can ski right out of the hotel. Downstairs is the ski hall, which is very convenient for storing and retrieving skis. Overall, the location of the Hyatt is very good. There are many specialty shops to visit nearby and there are also many restaurants.

Sheraton and Westin are also very good choices. If you have purchased Sheraton room coupons that include dinner before, it is very cost-effective. After all, eating in resorts is not cheap. The two hotels are right next to each other, and there is a corridor connecting them on the third floor. The public areas are also interchangeable. Guests staying at the Sheraton can go to the Westin if they want to swim, and guests staying at the Westin can go to the Sheraton to apply for a snow pass.

Wanda Resort Dining

The dining options in the Wanda Resort town are still very rich. In addition to fast food such as KFC and McDonald's, there are also many chain restaurants, such as Pizza Hut and Huang Jihuang , Hallasan BBQ, Deokzhuang Hotpot, if you don’t know what to eat, these restaurants are the unmistakable choices.

Of course, you can also try the Northeastern cuisine in the town, and there is also a restaurant called Yuminzhai Halal Hot Pot that is also good. If you stay for a long time and get tired of eating in the town, you can also call a nearby hotel to make a reservation. They will send a car to pick you up at the hotel and take you back after you finish.

Ski Resort

Wanda Changbai Mountain Ski Resort is located on a hillside near the main peak of Changbai Mountain and was designed by a Canadian company. There are 43 ski trails in total, 9 advanced ski trails, 14 intermediate ski trails, and 20 beginner ski trails, including 12 magic carpets suitable for beginners. It can be said that no matter what level of skier you are, you can find your home at Wanda Ski Resort.

Novice skiers are advised to start practicing on the ski trails at Guosong Ski Service Center. It is close to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel. Although it is small, there are relatively few people. There is no need to queue for the magic carpet and ropeway. In addition, because there are fewer people, beginners don’t have to worry about bumping into each other, which is safer.

Even if you can't ski down the high-level trail, you can still take the cable car to the top of the mountain to see the scenery. When the weather is good, you can see Changbai Mountain Tianchi from the observation deck on the top of the mountain. Play in the snow, take photos with the alpacas, and then take the cable car back the same way.

Wanda’s ski instructor classification is relatively clear. Generally, beginners who have never been exposed to skiing can choose a trainee instructor, which is the most cost-effective. Novices can just choose a C-level coach. When you can get to the intermediate level, you can choose to hire a B-level coach to advance. The fees are of course higher from one level to the next.

In addition to skiing, you can also take your kids to Wow Cool Play Snow Park. There are many fun items in the park, such as curling and ice tops, which Northeastern children have played since childhood, as well as ice bicycles, snow circles, sleds and other "transportation vehicles" with Northeastern characteristics.

In addition, there are also some paid items in the park, such as driving a snow cross-country motorcycle through the snowy mountains and woods at high speed, or three or five friends sitting on the snow circle and arranging them, and then from the front Pull the snowmobile forward and enjoy the double stimulation of rotation and deflection.

In addition to playing in the snow, Wanda also has a super large indoor water park, yes! The kind that can also be played in winter. The water inside is at a constant temperature, and there are indoor hot springs where you can soak. Luneng

Luneng Resort was developed later than Wanda. There are currently three hotels and basic supporting facilities. Although the ski resort is not big, it is enough for first-time skiers.

Hotel

Every room in the MGallery Hotel has a direct view of the majestic Changbai Mountain, and the hotel also has an outdoor hot spring pool. It is very nice to take a bath in the ice and snow.

But the disadvantage is that there are too few rooms in this hotel, and a lot of them were sold during Double Eleven this year, so it should be difficult to get an appointment.

In comparison, I would recommend Swiss Hotel more, as it has more rooms and is more cost-effective. Like MGallery, it is owned by AccorHotels, and its quality is guaranteed. It is also the closest to Luneng's ski resort. There are also single-family wooden houses with two bedrooms and one living room to choose from, which can accommodate a whole family.

Luneng also has a folk hotel called Yuanxiang. This hotel focuses on Northeastern characteristics, which is very interesting. The hotel is an independent farmhouse courtyard. It is more safe to let the children play in the snow in the yard during the day. All the rooms have Northeastern style big Kangs, equipped with large flower quilts. When you lie down on them, you will instantly transform into a Northeastern veteran.

There are also some folk activities in this hotel, such as cutting window grilles, which you can bring your children to participate in.

Ski Resort

If skiing is just an introductory experience in your Changbai Mountain itinerary, Luneng will be a good choice. Although there are relatively few snow trails in Luneng, they are enough for novices who are experiencing it for the first time. Moreover, the snow trails are all independent, with few intersections, making it difficult to get lost and very friendly to novices.

There will definitely be fewer people in Luneng than in Wanda. For novices and children, the skiing experience will be much better if there are fewer people. There are also dedicated ski trails for children to ski, so they are less likely to be hit by torpedoes. What else can you do besides playing in the snow?

Climb Changbai Mountain to see Tianchi

Just like if you don’t see the Great Wall, you are not a hero. If you go to Changbai Mountain, you must go to Tianchi, although you can’t see it Getting to Tianchi depends on the weather, but there are always people who are lucky enough to see it every time they go. To see Tianchi in winter, there are two routes to choose from, namely the North Slope and the West Slope.

The northern slope of Changbai Mountain is also called the North Scenic Area. It is the scenic area with the earliest development, the most complete supporting facilities and the most scenic spots in Changbai Mountain. Of course, there will be more tourists accordingly. There are shuttle buses between scenic spots, so if you bring children or parents, I recommend the North Slope, which is easier to play. The tour route is generally Tianchi-Green Pool-Falling Waterfall-Underground Forest.

I personally prefer wild things, so I prefer the primitiveness and wildness of the Western Slope. To go up the west slope to see Tianchi, you need to ride a snowmobile for a while, and then climb more than 1,400 steps to the top of the mountain. The round trip takes about an hour and a half.

The wind on the mountain is very strong, the snow is very thick, the snow wall next to it is taller than a person, and in some places the steps and handrails are completely buried. Those with poor physical strength are advised to reserve more time and walk down before the sun goes down.

If it is your first time to visit Changbai Mountain, your time is limited and you want to go up to see Tianchi, just choose one of the North Slope or the West Slope.

Go to the Demon Realm to see the most beautiful rime sunrise

If you want to see the rime in the Demon Realm, you must get up early and leave before dawn. After the sun comes out, the snow on the trees will slowly melt away. The river water in the Demon Realm is the hot spring water flowing from Tianchi in Changbai Mountain, so even in the winter of minus 20 degrees Celsius, it will not freeze, but will steam.

There are two ways to visit the Demon World, one is walking and the other is rafting, which takes about 40 minutes. Rafting in the Demon World is not the kind of fast and exciting rafting, so there is no need to worry about getting in the water. Sitting on a kayak and moving slowly along the river, with rime on both sides, it feels like the whole world has been put on hold, leaving only the sound of water.

If you choose to visit on foot, you can find an open place to enjoy the sunrise, and you can also bring a bottle of water to experience the wonder of pouring water into ice. After all, it is rare to get up so early except when you come to the Demon World.

Go to Laolike Lake to see the forest and snowfields

Laokeli Lake is located near the northern slope of Changbai Mountain, not far from Erdaobaihe Town. It is an alpine lake with an altitude of 1,880 meters. In winter, the lake is frozen and covered with thick snow, so you can have fun on the lake.

You can also ride a snowmobile or sled through the vast forest and snowfields. Among this primitive and dense forest, you can also see many footprints left by small animals on the snow and some ancient wooden houses, which are very mysterious.

Hot springs of ice and fire

Outdoor hot springs are everywhere, but it is still a rare experience to soak in a hot spring at more than 20 degrees below zero. Many people like to go to Hokkaido, Japan, to soak in hot springs in winter. This year’s epidemic has not gone anywhere. Soaking in hot springs in Changbai Mountain is also very good. The scenery is not inferior to Hokkaido at all.

In addition to the Park Hyatt, Wanda Resort also has a Halla Mountain Hot Spring Hotel where you can soak in hot springs. There is a Crowne Plaza not far from the gate of the Beipo Scenic Area where you can also soak in hot springs. There are also many hot spring hotels in Erdaobaihe Town. Changbai Mountain is rich in natural hot spring resources, so don’t miss it.

You can enjoy almost the same amount of fun in each of the above scenic spots in half a day. Most people estimate that half a day of skiing will be very tiring, so the schedule can be half a day of resort skiing + half a day of scenic spots to combine work and rest.

If time is tight, you can arrange the Demon Realm and Tianchi on the same day. In the Demon Realm in the morning, have a meal in Erdaobaihe Town at noon, Tianchi in the afternoon, and go down the mountain to soak in a hot spring in the evening.
