It rained on July 7th. What's the story?
According to the experience of the ancients, the weather on the seventh day of July is related to the weather afterwards. The agricultural proverb "It rains on July 7th, and it rains continuously on October 1st" is such an expression.
If it rains on the seventh day of July, there will be more rainy weather before the first day of October. Similar agricultural proverbs include "it rains on the seventh day of July, it rains on the eleventh day" and "it rains on the seventh day of July and it rains on the first day of October". It can be seen that these agricultural proverbs all have the same meaning.
An agricultural proverb says, "There will be drought and flood on July 15th and a bumper harvest on August 15th". The rain on Tanabata indicates that there may be more weather in the future. If it rains heavily on Valentine's Day in China, it will probably rain continuously in Qiu Meng, Mid-Autumn Festival and Qiu Ji, which is not good for agriculture. The growth of crops needs a proper amount of sunshine and rain, too much or too little will affect the harvest.
The origin of Tanabata Festival
Valentine's Day in China began in ancient times, spread in the Western Han Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. Qixi originated from people's worship of natural phenomena, time and numbers. As early as the Book of Songs, people knew something about the astronomical phenomena of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. By the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a personalized description: "The Weaver Girl crossed the river on Qixi, and the Magpie Bridge Meeting".
China Valentine's Day, also known as Qiaoqi Festival, Qijie Festival, Daughter's Day, Beggar's Day, Chinese Valentine's Day, Niuniu Festival and Qiaoxi Festival, is a traditional folk festival in China. Valentine's Day in China, which originated from the worship of stars, is Seven Sisters's birthday in the traditional sense. Because of the worship of Seven Sisters on the seventh day of July, it was named Tanabata.
