My family is in Mahuiling Town. Every year, from the fourth day to the sixth day of the second lunar month, Mahuiling Town is a fair day, that is, a temple fair. Our local people also call it material exchange.

After a hundred years of historical changes and evolution, the temple fair in Mahuiling Town moved from Jinglin Street in Matou Village to Mahuiling Market Town, and the time lasted from the first day of February to the third day of February. From the traditional exchange of agricultural and sideline products in neighboring counties and towns, it developed into a festival-style, in which agricultural and sideline products, wooden tools, seedlings and medicinal materials, craft daily necessities, clothing department stores, automobile appliances and other products, as well as services such as food, amusement and labor intermediary were traded in neighboring cities and counties in Anhui, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces.

For people in our town, the temple fair on the fourth day of February is as important and lively as the Chinese New Year. On this day, every household prepares a sumptuous meal early to entertain their children who come home and their relatives and friends who come to catch the temple fair in neighboring villages and counties.
