Chagan Lake, "Chagan Nur" in Mongolian, means white holy lake. It is located in the former Gorros Mongolian Autonomous County in the northwest of Jilin Province, at the intersection of the Nen River and the Huolin River. The water network area is 37 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide at its widest point. The lake shoreline is winding and has a circumference of 128 kilometers. When the water storage elevation is 130 meters, the water surface area is 345 square kilometers. It has a water storage of more than 600 million cubic meters. The climate is a mid-temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. The annual average sunshine is 2879.8 hours, the annual average temperature is 4.5°C, the frost-free period is 141 days, the annual effective accumulated temperature is 2916.8°C, and the annual average precipitation is 450mm.
