Where is Jinhua, Zhejiang, the hometown of dragon dance in China?
Wulong's hometown is Yuhuan, Jinhua, Zhejiang. The earliest written records can be found in local chronicles. In the 6th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1880), Yuhuan Tanglu-Custom described it as follows: "Dragon lanterns, gongs and drums are loud in the society, and winding paths lead to secluded places." It can be seen that as early as 120 years ago, the dragon lantern rolling dance on Yuhuan Island has become very common and has become a model in dance method. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Huang (A.D. 1522- 1566), a poet who worshipped Wu, said in a poem: "Every day, I beat rice in Changhua, and in winter, I knocked on needles to catch fish in Kanmen." It can be seen that the coastal areas of Yuhuan were rich in hairtail at that time and were very famous. Dragon dance, as a custom, was introduced because people moved, and its credibility is very high. Comrades of the Propaganda Department of the county party committee also mentioned that it originated in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty when investigating the ancient Dragon Lantern.
