Introduction of Jintang Island

Jintang Island produces a large number of aquatic products, such as squid, pomfret, cuttlefish and hairtail. Sea melon seeds on Dapeng Island, a small island in the northwest of Jintang Island, are famous in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai for their large grains, tender meat and thin shell. On the sea to the north of Jintang Island, there are five small islands, collectively called Wuyu. They are: Beimantou Mountain, Longdong Mountain, Yaque Mountain, Dawuzhi and so on. They are the famous bird islands in Zhoushan Islands.

Jintang Island, located in the southwest of Zhoushan Islands, is the fourth largest island in Zhoushan Islands, with an area of 77.35 square kilometers. Since ancient times, islanders have always traveled by boat. It takes about 45 minutes by ordinary ferry from Jintang Island to Dinghai, the main island of Zhoushan Islands, and about 1 hour to Zhenhai, Ningbo. People on the island can't leave the island on a typhoon day or when the cold current goes south. Jintang, as the intermediate point of the mainland island connection project, can take a bus to Dinghai and Zhenhai to bid farewell to the sea age when the weather depended on ferries.
