Mosquitoes in hot weather

Studies have found that the hotter the weather, the fewer mosquitoes there are. What happened? During this period, the temperature in many cities and regions in China has been rising to 40 degrees Celsius. Extreme high temperature weather is very destructive to mosquitoes. You know, the optimum temperature for mosquitoes is 25℃ to 30℃. Once it reaches 40℃, mosquitoes can hardly survive. When you are careful enough, you will find that there are fewer mosquitoes recently. Actually, not all of them were killed, but most of them were also killed by heat.

Will mosquitoes become extinct? Many authoritative experts in meteorology overseas have said that this extreme high temperature weather may continue on a global scale in the future. In other words, high temperature weather of 35℃ or even 40℃ will become the norm, and this kind of thing may last until 2050. This kind of weather is devastating to human beings, especially mosquitoes, and even relates to the crisis of mosquito species.

Mosquitoes in the suburbs must be the first to disappear. Because there is basically no place for mosquitoes to escape in the suburbs, the mosquitoes in the city are relatively ok. Although the continuous high temperature will kill a large number of mosquitoes, some mosquitoes will live in sewer pipes and rooms. So there is no mosquito crisis (but as long as the hot weather continues, the total number of mosquitoes in the city will be less and less), and you will find that mosquitoes are almost invisible both outdoors and indoors.

How many days is the service life of mosquitoes? In the natural environment, male mosquitoes die about 7 ~ 10 days after mating, but they can survive in the laboratory for 1 ~ 2 months. Female mosquitoes can generally live for 1 to 2 months and have lived in the laboratory for 4 months. It breeds quickly at 28℃ to 35℃, so when summer comes, mosquitoes suddenly increase, and even generations overlap. When the climate gets cold in autumn and the temperature drops below 10℃, mosquitoes will stop breeding, many will die and few will survive.

Growth Habits Mosquitoes breed in water, and different kinds of mosquitoes breed in different water quality and storage types. Aedes mosquitoes breed in heavily polluted water bodies such as pits and septic tanks; Culex pipiens pallens breeds in lightly polluted water bodies, such as garbage pits, cold water pits and low-lying water storage places; Clean water bodies with a large total area such as paddy fields, lotus ponds and swamps breed Anopheles sinensis and Culex tritaeniorhynchus; Clean and flowing water bodies, such as mountain streams or river beds, breed Anopheles minimus; Small and medium-sized natural water bodies such as bushes, bamboo tubes and jars contain water, which breeds Aedes albopictus; Indoor and outdoor utensils, large water tanks and coconut shells breed Aedes aegypti. Therefore, it is a countermeasure to control and kill mosquitoes by renovating or transforming mosquito breeding sites.
