Cause analysis of the storm in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea on March 5, 2007

From March 2 to 5, 2007, under the joint influence of cold wave and strong wind, explosive extratropical cyclone and astronomical tide, the strongest snowstorm (rain) weather occurred in Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang since the meteorological record was recorded in 195 1 year. There have been 8-9 gale in Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea and East China Sea, with gust 1 1- 12. Bohai Bay, Laizhou Bay and the northern coastal areas of Shandong Peninsula have suffered the most serious temperate storm surge disasters in 38 years. The instantaneous wind power in Weihai, Yantai and Weifang reaches 13, and Yantai Port, Laizhou Port and Weifang in Shandong Province. Marine fisheries, aquaculture and infrastructure suffered serious losses. Three people were killed and seven people were missing due to storm surge in Shandong province.

In addition to preventing storm surges caused by typhoons, China's coastal areas should also pay special attention to preventing temperate cyclones and cold wave storm surges in winter and spring in the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea. Especially in the trend of increasing extreme weather events caused by global warming, more attention should be paid to it.
