Since the Song Dynasty, emperors have often made Yuefeng, honoring them as "sacred princesses", "Tian Fei", "Tianhou" or "Tiannv", so the official Mazu Tempel is also called "Tianfei Palace" or "Tianhou Palace".
Mazu belief originated in the early years of Northern Song Dynasty. Because he never cries or makes trouble, his family named him Mo and called him Mo Niang. Mo Niang was brilliant since she was a child, and was later endowed with bronze symbols by the gods, so that she could exorcise evil spirits, eliminate disasters and solve urban problems. When I woke up, the news came, and it was exactly the same as what I saw in my dream. The silent mother heard the pain and immediately jumped into the sea to save her father; Three days later, he jumped on his father's back. Later, he died of grief. It is said that she ascended to heaven at the top of Mount Mae. Therefore, the villagers built a temple to worship.
Later, fishermen in the coastal areas of Fujian said that the goddess often appeared at sea to rescue wrecked ships, so more and more believers came, and there were more and more legends about Mazu Tempel in the coastal areas. By the Southern Song Dynasty, it had become the patron saint of navigation along the southeast coast. Not only fishing boats, but also merchant ships and warships are dedicated to the gods or spirits of Mazu. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, with the development of Taiwan Province Province, people who moved to Taiwan Province often offered sacrifices to Mazu as their peers. After arriving in Taiwan Province safely, they built temples to worship their ancestors, so the early Mazu Tempel in Taiwan Province Province was built near ports such as Luermen, Beigang and Guandu.
At present, there are hundreds of temples dedicated to Mazu in Taiwan Province Province. One of the earliest is Magong Tianhou Palace in Penghu County. On this island, Luermen Tianhou Temple, Tainan Datianhou Temple and Lugang Tianhou Temple are the earliest.
