Rizhao is named after "the first ray of sunrise". It is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located in the southeast of Shandong Province, facing Japan and South Korea across the Yellow Sea in the east, Linyi in the west, Qingdao and Weifang in the north and Lianyungang in the south. Rizhao belongs to temperate monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons, no severe cold in winter, no heat in summer, very humid, and frequent typhoons landing. Annual average temperature 12.7℃, annual average humidity 72%, frost-free period 223 days, annual average sunshine 2533 hours and annual average precipitation 874 mm.

Air quality is the national second-class standard. Sunshine belongs to the eastern monsoon region, with high temperature and rainy in summer and cold and little rain in winter. Being close to the coast, it is significantly influenced by the ocean. Compared with other inland areas at the same latitude, the temperature difference between the four seasons is relatively small, so the temperature in Xia Dong is moderate in two seasons.
