Winter construction temperature requirements for asphalt pavement

Construction is not suitable when the construction temperature is lower than 10℃.

During winter construction, the temperature of the asphalt mixture is crucial to the construction quality. When the construction temperature is lower than 10°C, the asphalt mixture will become brittle and hard, making it difficult to lay and compact evenly. The adhesion will also be affected, which can easily lead to pavement peeling and cracking. To ensure construction quality, it is necessary to ensure that the site temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the asphalt mixture must not be lower than the asphalt slump test value plus 5 degrees Celsius. The factory temperature of the mixture should be appropriately increased and controlled above 160 degrees. Transport vehicles must be tightly covered and the paving temperature should not be lower than 120-150 degrees. It can ensure that the asphalt mixture has sufficient fluidity and adhesion at appropriate temperatures, achieves uniform laying and compaction, and ensures construction quality and pavement durability.
