Where is Jersey?

Jersey is an island at the southern end of the English Channel, surrounded by the British Islands and the European continent. It is a British territory.

Jersey is the largest and most important island in the British Channel Islands. Located in the southernmost part of the archipelago. It is about 29 kilometers from Guernsey to the north and 24 kilometers from the coast of Normandy, France, to the east. The terrain in the north is rugged, the coast is steep, and the interior is a densely forested plateau.

It is a member of the United Kingdom, but not affiliated with the same market; it uses pounds in circulation, but it also has its own currency; it is a tax evasion haven for the British; it is an international financial center with 100 billion pounds.

Extended information:

The history of Jersey can be traced back to 933, when the Channel Islands were annexed by William Longsword, Duke of Normandy and became part of the Duchy of Normandy. Descendant William the Conqueror became King of England, and the Channel Islands became part of the Kingdom of England.

Although the French recovered the Normandy area in 1204, they did not recover the Channel Islands at the same time, making these islands a witness to this historical event. During World War II, Jersey and Guernsey were occupied by the German army. The occupation period was from May 1, 1940 to May 9, 1945. They were the only British territories controlled by Germany during World War II.

The largest and southernmost island of the British Channel Islands. It is 19 kilometers west of the Cotentin Peninsula in France. Area is 115 square kilometers. The capital, St. Helier, is a British overseas territory rather than part of the UK mainland.

Belongs to the same jurisdiction of Jersey as the Isle of Wraekelihaus Roxmanquier. Most of it is highland covered by loess. There are spectacular cliffs on the northern coast, 148 meters high and caves, and St. Helier Harbor in St. O'Brien Bay is protected by a breakwater.
