Experts in Sanxiang Metropolis Daily came forward to refute rumors.
There are rumors in many counties and cities around Changsha.
"You must not eat boiled eggs with local dishes this year." In the early morning of the 24th, Liao Jiao, a citizen, was cooking eggs with vegetables at home. Her mother, who was far away in Ningxiang, called to tell her that due to the abnormal weather and too little sunshine this year, the vegetables were poisonous, and some people died of poisoning. Toxic? Looking at the freshly cooked pot of eggs, Liao Jiao immediately asked this newspaper for verification.
Later, the reporter asked Liao's mother about the source of the news. She said that she also heard about it in the mahjong room, and she didn't believe it at first, but later she believed it when she heard a lot of people talking about it. At the same time, the reporter learned that the news that "local dishes are poisonous" began to spread wildly around 9 pm on the 23rd, and immediately spread to the surrounding areas of Changsha such as Ningxiang, Liuyang, Xiangyin, Miluo and Yiyang on the morning of the 24th. In the process of spreading, the place where the poisoning happened was changed several times, and the number of people who died varied from 3 to 6, and some rumor versions even reached 1.
It's a rumor that eating ground vegetables is poisonous.
On the morning of 24th, the reporter learned from Changsha 12 Emergency Center that the whole city had not received a first-aid record about ground vegetables poisoning, but had received a lot of consultation calls from citizens.
"We started the investigation last night. Qiaokou Town and Gaotangling Town in Wangcheng District all went to do carpet inspection, and no citizens were poisoned by eating vegetables." Liu Ruchun, director of the Emergency Office of Changsha Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told the reporter that from March 22 to 24 at 12 noon, the center did not receive any cases and reports of food poisoning caused by eating ground vegetables. At the same time, reporters called 12 in Yueyang, Yiyang and other places to inquire, and all the staff on duty said that there was no first-aid record of "poisoning by eating boiled eggs".
"Over the years, I have never heard of reports of poisoning caused by eating local vegetables, and now many citizens have eaten boiled eggs with local vegetables, and they are not poisoned." Chang Long Jianxun, director of the Food and Drinking Water Safety Department of Changsha CDC, said: "Eating vegetables is poisonous" is purely a rumor, and citizens need not panic.
