Should the tower crane be locked when a typhoon comes?

Don’t lock the tower crane when a typhoon comes. Strictly speaking, the tower crane's boom is not allowed to be locked, because when the tower crane is unloaded, it is heavier at the back and lighter at the front, which means the balance arm is heavier, so the tower crane's boom will be raised appropriately. This is a very good posture. . The tower crane should rotate freely. If it is locked, it will easily break and fall over.

Precautions for tower cranes in windy weather:

1. All components of the tower crane should be comprehensively inspected regularly and repaired and maintained in a timely manner.

2. Pay close attention to the weather and wind trends, and check whether the tower body, wall-attached poles, mechanisms, billboards, electrical boxes, lamps, etc. are firmly connected.

3. The hook should be raised to the highest point, the boom should be able to rotate with the wind, and there should be no obstacles within the rotation range.

4. When the wind is too strong, the independent-height tower crane should be lowered by at least 1/3 of its height, or an attached wall should be installed on the top of the tower, and the height should be appropriately lowered until it does not touch the top of the building.

5. If necessary, the steel pipes, scaffolding and other facilities on the roof should be removed to lower the tower body as much as possible. When the tower crane is independently fixed at a height that meets the cable wind rope solution, cable wind rope protection can be used.

6. According to the wind direction, when installing the tower crane, try to install it on the leeward side of the building that can block the wind.
