Yongding Earth Building

With expectation, this morning we came to Yongding Tulou, Fujian, which is listed as a world cultural heritage.

Yongding Tulou is a unique and magical mountain residential building in the world, and it is a wonderful flower of ancient architecture in China. In July of XX, it was successfully listed in the World Heritage List. It has a long history, unique style, grand scale and exquisite structure. Earth buildings are mainly divided into squares and circles. There are 360 famous circular buildings and more than 4,000 famous square buildings in Longyan area.

What amazes tourists from all over the world most is the round earth building called round village by local people. From the outside, the tulou looks like a circular building with a large area of yellow land. You can only see the window in the middle and upper part. Like a castle in ancient Rome. The round building is high outside and low inside, and there are buildings in the building, which are surrounded by each other. Ventilation, lighting, typhoon prevention, earthquake resistance, defense and other functions are superior to buildings.

Speaking of this tulou, I really have a few mysteries! 1. Tulou is made of mud. Why are they waterproof, fireproof and shockproof? 2. Why can tulou be included in the world cultural heritage? 3. Why do tulou have to go so high to have windows? With a sense of mystery, I walked into Chengqi Building, which is known as the "King of Earth Buildings". Wow! The city building is so big, round and round, like a huge maze, turning round and round. We took a group photo at the entrance of Tulou King, and then, while waiting for the photo, we listened to a Tulou resident introducing Tulou. Uncle said: "Chengqi Building is the largest earth building. Covering an area of 6000 square meters, the people living in the building are all a family. Because of this, I applied for inclusion in the world cultural heritage. " "Why are there no windows on the first and second floors of Tulou?" I am curious to ask. "That's to prevent thieves, robbers and animals from invading." Oh, I see. "But the tulou is made of loess. Why can it be so strong, waterproof, fireproof and shockproof? " At this time, my uncle added: "The main building materials of Hakka earth buildings are loess and Chinese fir soil. The rotunda has the best firmness, and the cylindrical structure can transmit all kinds of loads very evenly. The thick wall of Hakka earth building is one of the most important features. Cross bones such as bamboo chips and wooden strips are buried in the earth wall. Even if cracks occur due to excessive temporary stress, the overall structure is not dangerous. So far, I haven't heard of the collapse of the round building. " "The wall thickness of the earth building is about1.5m. The thick earth wall has the hidden function that other walls can't match, and it can form a microclimate with cool summer and warm winter in the earth building. Thick soil can keep the humidity suitable for human body. When it is too dry, it can naturally release water, and when it is too wet, it will absorb water ... "Listening to the unheard-of knowledge my uncle said, I suddenly feel that Tulou is amazing! I really want to live here and feel it.

This is really a meaningful trip, which really let me appreciate different buildings. The wisdom of working people is infinite!
