It's so cold now. Why do you sweat when you sleep at night?

Cold sweat refers to sweating due to cold, cold limbs, and cold feeling due to tension, fear or disease. No fever before sweating, no thirst. Often accompanied by listlessness, pale face, loose stool, long urine, slow pulse, pale tongue and other cold symptoms. It is mostly caused by yang deficiency and insufficient defensive qi, and it can also be caused by fright.

When people are nervous, emotional or suddenly frightened, they sometimes sweat on their palms, soles, armpits and faces. This is the so-called mental sweating, which is what we usually call "cold sweat". Sometimes when people eat hot and sour food such as onion, garlic, pepper, bayberry and sour apricot, sweat often appears on their faces and necks, which is called taste sweating. Both kinds of sweating have no special smell. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, yin is strong and yang is weak, and yin is too heavy in the body.

differential diagnosis

The pathogenesis of cold sweat in young people is different from that caused by low blood calcium in children. The transition of winter and spring seasons is a high incidence of cold sweat among young and middle-aged people, which is mostly caused by the "yin deficiency" of patients. In layman's terms, after a long winter, the "essence" stored in the human body is insufficient. When physical fitness declines, there will be symptoms of cold sweat, such as hot flashes, flushed cheeks, upset night sweats, insomnia, fatigue and so on. The young and middle-aged people are under great pressure from work and family, and their physical strength and energy are obviously overdrawn, which is very likely to lead to autonomic nervous disorder. If you don't pay attention to invigorating qi in your daily life, you will be favored by cold sweat.

In addition, there is another cause of hyperhidrosis, including generalized hyperhidrosis and localized hyperhidrosis. Systemic hyperhidrosis often occurs with moist skin surface and paroxysmal sweating. Local hyperhidrosis is common in palms, soles and armpits, followed by nasal tip, forehead and genitals. , and often occurs in teenagers. Patients are often accompanied by peripheral blood circulation dysfunction, such as wet and cold skin of hands and feet, blue or pale skin, frostbite and so on. Foot hyperhidrosis is caused by poor evaporation of sweat, which makes the plantar epidermis white, often accompanied by foot odor. When sweating in armpit and vulva, it is easy to cause erythema, folliculitis and boils because the skin in this area is thin and tender and often wet.

Cold sweat is different from sweating due to heat or exercise. The latter comes out from thighs, back, armpits and chest, sweating a lot, not easily evaporating and smelling. Most of the sweat that can be smelled by the nose is emitted by sweat glands on both sides of the armpit.
