Why should mulberry fields be weeded? How to weed mulberry fields?

There are many kinds of weeds in mulberry fields, most of which have strong vitality and strong reproduction. They not only compete with mulberry for water and nutrients in the soil, reduce soil fertility, but also affect the ventilation of mulberry gardens, inhibit the normal growth and development of mulberry trees, provide hidden places for pests and diseases, and encourage the breeding and spread of pests and diseases. Therefore, weeds in mulberry fields should be removed in time.

We should focus on weeding mulberry fields in spring, summer and autumn, so as to remove sprouting grass in spring, Huangmei grass in summer and flowers and plants in autumn. Spring is the vigorous growth period of overwintering grass, so weeding should be done 1 ~ 2 times before mulberry germination; Weeds grow vigorously after summer cutting, especially in rainy season, and weeds are weeded 1 ~ 2 times before summer leaves are harvested; Autumn is the flowering and fruiting period of weeds, so weeds should be pulled out before flowering and fruiting to reduce weeds in mulberry fields in the following spring.

Weeding in mulberry fields can be combined with manual weeding and chemical weeding. Artificial weeding must be carried out at a critical period according to the growth and spread law of weeds, and generally it should be carved by manual or mechanical roots on sunny days. Chemical weeding is mainly carried out before germination in spring and after cutting in summer, combined with intertillage for soil treatment or spraying weeds. When there are mulberry leaves, spray them directionally to prevent the liquid medicine from spraying on the mulberry leaves. When using herbicides, we must choose herbicides that are harmless to silkworms and do them in windless weather, not before it rains or when it is foggy and wet. At present, the herbicides commonly used in mulberry fields are glyphosate (Zhencaoning), dimethyl carbon tetrachloride, paraquat (Gramoxone), prometryne, Hekecao (Chihuling), diuron, trifluralin and so on.
