What is haze index (what is haze index)

At 7: 00 on 20 151218, emergency headquarters, a heavily polluted city, issued the second red warning instruction since the winter of 2015. From 7: 00 on February 19 to 24: 00 on February 22, Beijing will launch a red warning measure for heavy air pollution. The last red warning in Beijing was around the National Day, when the smog index was as high as 374. What's the smoke index? What does this mean?

What is the haze index?

The smog index is actually the so-called air quality index, which is a dimensionless index to describe the low-energy bleak control. For a single pollutant, there is an air quality sub-index, and the pollutants involved in air quality assessment include fine particles, inhalable particles, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and carbon monoxide. Haze index mainly refers to the comprehensive evaluation of sulfur dioxide, inhalable particulate matter and single nitrogen oxide.

The smog index is somewhat normal.

Haze index evaluation is divided into 6 grades.

Grade I: the air pollution index is 0-50, and the air quality is excellent.

Grade II: the air pollution index is 5 1- 100, and the air quality is good.

Grade III: the air pollution index is 10 1- 150, and the air quality is slightly polluted.

Level 4: air pollution index 15 1-200, with moderate air pollution.

Grade 5: air pollution index 20 1-300, with heavy air pollution.

Level 6: the air pollution index is greater than 300, and the air quality is seriously polluted.

Significance of haze index

Grade I: The air quality is satisfactory, there is basically no air pollution, and all kinds of people can move normally.

Grade II: The air quality is acceptable, but some pollutants may have a slight impact on the health of a very small number of extremely sensitive people. It is suggested that a very small number of extremely sensitive people reduce outdoor activities.

Grade III: The symptoms of susceptible people are slightly aggravated, and healthy people have irritating symptoms. It is suggested that children, the elderly and patients with heart disease and respiratory diseases should reduce long-term and high-intensity outdoor sports.

Level 4: further aggravate the symptoms of susceptible people, which may have an impact on the heart and respiratory system of healthy people. It is suggested that patients with diseases should avoid long-term high-intensity outdoor exercise, and the general population should moderately reduce outdoor exercise.

Grade 5: The symptoms of patients with heart disease and lung disease are obviously aggravated, and the exercise tolerance is reduced, which is a common symptom of healthy people. It is suggested that children, the elderly and patients with heart disease and lung disease stay indoors and stop outdoor sports, and the general population should reduce outdoor sports.

Grade 6: the exercise tolerance of healthy people is reduced, the symptoms are obviously strong, and some diseases appear in advance. It is suggested that children, the elderly and patients should stay indoors as much as possible to avoid physical exertion, and the general population should try to avoid outdoor activities.

Smoke protection measures

Old people: In foggy weather, old people must stay at home, exercise indoors and avoid going out to exercise. Cooking at home is mainly cooking, reducing the generation of oil fume such as frying.

Children: Children's physical development is not complete, and smog is more harmful. In foggy days, children should avoid going out, learn more about smog and strengthen their awareness of self-protection.

Pregnant women: pregnant women must not go out in foggy days, so they should rest at home and pay attention to supplementing the relative humidity at home.

Outdoor activists: People who work outdoors need to pay attention to wearing masks when going out, and wear gas masks when necessary, especially traffic police, sanitation workers and construction workers.
