Overview of low-level jet

Below 600hPa in the troposphere, there is often a strong and narrow airflow belt, which is closely related to the mesoscale convective weather system. Therefore, the strong and narrow airflow below 600hPa is called low-level jet. Both low-level jet and high-level jet have strong geostrophic characteristics, and cyclone and anticyclone vorticity are produced on both sides of jet, which plays an important role in the development of weather system.
