How to grow onions and garlic at home

The method of growing onions and garlic in pots at home is actually the same as the field cultivation method. Onions can be grown indoors all year round. The growth will be faster in spring and summer, but slower in autumn and winter. If the weather is cold, you can use transparent plastic to make a small shed to keep it warm.

Garlic cloves can be planted with the skin on; this layer of skin can ensure that the garlic does not rot easily in the soil. The soil should not be too dry or too wet. Generally, the seedlings can germinate at a low temperature of 3 to 5°C. The seedlings have strong cold tolerance and the suitable growth temperature is 12 to 25°C. Onions and garlic can be planted separately. If you only harvest garlic seedlings, you can use hydroponics.

Onion is a drought-tolerant plant. Excessive watering will cause the roots of the onion to rot. Just keep the soil slightly moist. In addition, good ventilation and appropriate lighting should be ensured, and it should not be exposed to the sun for too long. If the soil itself is relatively fertile, there will be no need to apply fertilizer after planting.
