Hotel highlights
This hotel is located in Sombru.
In the reserve, the highlight is that the restaurant is located on the semi-open terrace, which attracts many birds every morning. These birds are used to seeing tourists and are not afraid of life at all. They just wait at the table for you to finish your meal and start their own big meal.
Sambulubi's reasons for punching in
We gave Samburu four stars because as the first stop, Samburu gave us a certain surprise.
Here, we saw the first lion on the journey. Although we only saw a head hidden in the bushes, it was enough to make us excited to set foot on the land of East Africa for the first time.
Compared with other nature reserves, the soil in Samburu is red, and the reddish-brown land is dotted with several shrubs. Cars shuttle freely among the bushes, becoming the second original ecological reserve (the first in Masai Mara) in this trip.
Tips:
In July and August, the climate in Samburu is dry, and vehicles in the reserve raise a lot of dust. At the end of the day, we are all gray, so we must wear masks.
The original ecology of Nakuru ★★★★★★★ Animal species ★★★★
Staying in hotels and rating stars
Check into a hotel ★★★★
Location Transportation: This hotel is a 0/0 minute drive from Nakuru/Kloc. Hotel conditions are average, similar to Jinjiang Star in China. The hotel's wifi is very good, but there is something wrong with the shower, and the two rooms opened by friends have the same problem. After changing rooms, I can finally take a hot bath comfortably.
I chose Nakuru because I want to go to Lake Boglia the next day. Small partners who need to control the budget can cut down this scenic spot and go directly from Samburu to Lake Boglia. It is enough to reserve Lake Boglia for 2 hours in the afternoon, which shortens the day's trip and saves one day's charter, one night's hotel accommodation and tickets to Nakuru.
Recommended reason
The reason why Nakuru was given three stars is because Nakuru's artificial traces are too obvious and there are fewer kinds of animals. As soon as I entered the park, I saw several telephone poles and residents living nearby. The dirt road in the park is obviously artificially built. Vehicles can only drive on the road, not as free as Samburu. There are many zebras, giraffes and buffalo in the park. If I hadn't been lucky enough to see cheetahs and rhinos, I could only give Nakuru two stars.
However, among the six protected areas in this trip, only Nakuluneng saw lush vegetation, which was a bit unique. Therefore, how to arrange the trip depends on your budget and time. However, from another angle, I think Nakuru is not cost-effective.
However, on the way to Nakuru, we will pass through the endless green plains, and pieces of cattle and sheep will enjoy themselves in the green grass. A friend who has been to Inner Mongolia said that if he has been to Kenya, he can save money to see grasslands in Inner Mongolia.
Special species note that the giraffe below is also unique to Nakuru. There is no white reticulate pattern on its body, the pattern is regular and blocky, and the color of its calf gradually turns white. This giraffe is also different from the giraffe you will see next in Masai Mara:
There are no large-scale flamingos in Lake Nakuru. I only saw a small group of about 20 flamingos that afternoon.
The original ecology of Lake Boglia ★★★★★★★ Animal species ★
It takes about 2 hours to drive from Nakuru to Lake Borgia, and the whole Lake Borgia is full of flamingos. Two hours of viewing time is enough. The best viewing time is in the morning. After lunch at noon, you can go to the next destination. But when estimating the viewing time, I overestimated it here and wasted an afternoon.
Tips:
Attention, little friends. If you skip Nakuru, you can go to Boglia Lake in the afternoon, then go back to Nakuru for one night, and then go to the next destination the next day. There are no sheltered trees around Lake Boglia. If the weather is fine, it will be sunny, and after more than 2 hours, I will not be interested in staying.
Artistic conception shooting point
The best place to shoot Lake Boglia is where you first saw a flamingo after entering the park. The water quality here is good, so I have a chance to take a beautiful reflection. But the disadvantage is that the flamingo is too far away from you, and even the 400mm lens can't be enlarged. However, there are always a few flamingos staying in the waters near the shore. The focal length is 2 10mm, and good photos are also taken. So there is no need to pursue equipment too much.
Continue driving along the lake, and you can reach another suitable place in about half an hour. The flamingos here are only tens of meters away from the shore of the lake. But the disadvantage is also obvious-there are a lot of green debris floating on the water (not sure if it is algae), so it is impossible to present a reflection.
The original ecology of Masai Mara ★★★★★★★★★★ Animal species ★★★★★★★★
Masai Mara ★★★★★★★★★

Tent camp
This is a tent camp, only 2 minutes' drive from the gate of Masai Mara Nature Reserve. The camp is very big, with dozens of tents, large and small. The tent won't lock. The outer layer is shading material, and there are mosquito nets inside. You need to zip up. There are four windows in the tent, which are also zipped open.
The tent we live in has a double bed, a single bed and a small round table. The toilet and bathroom are also in the tent, so you don't need to go out to take a shower. Generally speaking, it is convenient to live here and the food is much better than we thought.
Although there are only four dishes for lunch and dinner, there are chicken, vegetables and fruits. Only two stars are given because the hot water supply time here is limited.
disadvantaged
Although theoretically there is hot water from 19: 30 to 22: 00, if you take a bath at this time, the water will suddenly be cut off. The real bathing time is limited to 20:00-20:30 (the partner in the other room responded that there was no water at 20:30, and the situation in other rooms was unclear).
So, we lived here for three days, and basically we could only wash it quickly. For such a person who washes his hair every day, it is simply unbearable! But the tent camp outside Masai Mara should be like this, so you have no choice but to spend a lot of money to live in the reserve.
Tips:
A suggestion for friends, especially girls-if you two live in the same room and can't stand not taking a bath, you'd better go in and take a bath together. If a person takes a bath first, the person behind may take a cold bath.
On August 3rd, we had two Safari—— sessions-7: 00 am-1:00 pm and16: 00 pm-18: 00 pm. The safari park in the morning is more interesting. You can see many animals and go far away. In the afternoon, Safari feels like filling in the blanks. Neither the quality nor the quantity of animals can compare with what I saw in the morning. So we should seize the prime time in the morning to see animals.
As the car drove farther and farther, the scenery in front of us gradually changed from yellow sand to green grass hills. Bones and animal carcasses can be seen everywhere on the ground. Some of them are also connected with meat, which has become a delicious feast for vultures; It's not just a skeleton, it's flashing this strange white light in the sun.
The zebra in Masai Mara also belongs to commonzabra (common zebra), which belongs to the same species as the zebra seen by Nakuru. We found that although the land deep in the reserve is not as dry as the land near the gate of the reserve, the water resources are not rich. We passed through many cracked depressions. There used to be water, but now it's all dry.
Wildebeest migration
In particular, what we see is not the real wildebeest migration. The so-called "wildebeest migration" in our mouth means that wildebeests migrate from Tanzania to Kenya and then return to Tanzania from Kenya. This only happened in June-10.
Although the delegation did go during this time, we didn't reach the border between the two countries. Even, we didn't even see the other half of Masai Mara grassland! When we communicated with the travel agency, we only said that we would arrange a day to go to the Mara River to watch wildebeest cross the river, but did not particularly emphasize that we would go to the border between Kenya and Tanzania to see the river crossing.
The Masai Mara River twists and turns, and a large part of it is in Kenya, not just at the junction. I'm not sure if this is another loophole exploited by the travel agency, because on the plane back to China, I met an elderly photography group from China. They spent more than 40 thousand, and the trip was similar. They also came here to watch wildebeests cross the river.
So friends who want to go to the intersection remember to make this clear to the travel agency. Don't be silly to spend money on big migration, and watch wildebeest cross the river every day.
After watching wildebeest crossing the river, we had the most artistic lunch in life on the grassland of Masai Mara. Looking at the endless yellow grassland, wildebeests and zebras swarmed in the distance, and fried chicken suddenly became delicious.
Naivasha original ecology ★★★ Animal species ★
Staying in hotels and rating stars
Check in CampCarnelly★★
Naivasha is a popular holiday resort for local people in Kenya. It is said that many Europeans and Americans buy villas here.
When we approached the camp, we did see many beautiful houses, and there were shopping centers in the town. Although there are only two floors, this town is the best one I have seen in the past 1 1 day. Other towns, please make up for the rural areas of China, so as not to pollute everyone's eyes.
Naivasha is a lake surrounded by many resorts. CampCarnelly's environment is good, but there is no wifi, so I only give three stars.
Real experience (reasons not recommended by individuals)
I have to say, this is the place! ! ! Maybe those travel notes were written a few years ago (I'm not sure about this, I didn't look at the posting time carefully). In short, it's good to read some rave reviews of travel notes and praise this place as a paradise for birds. Yes, the book does introduce that there are more than 400 kinds of birds living in Naivasha. The question is, how much can you see as a tourist?
Weather: We leave Masai Mara at 8:30 in the morning and arrive at 14:00 in the afternoon. After lunch, we arrived at the lake. The driver reserved two hours for us, but we came back 1 hour later. If the weather is gloomy, no good photos can be taken at all; When the weather is fine, sitting on the boat is almost dry. that this is not the important question.
The point is that Naivasha has been occupied by local residents. People fish on boats and children swim naked in the lake, which is why the original ecology here only gives two stars. There are many people making noise by the lake. Do you think this place is really suitable for bird hunting? Only pelicans bigger than geese are not afraid of people, and tourists can take a shot.
I have to say, there are really many pelicans here. But if we take the bus for 5.5 hours just to see the pelican and another big black bird with no name, it's really not worth it! Besides, fisheagle is fed too much by tourists. Our boatman threw fish twice, and others didn't bother to look back. That's why I only gave Naivasha a star.
Naivasha related payment
Remind my friends again, if you decide to come to Naivasha, remember to check whether there are extra fees for boating and going to the island before paying! I once read in other people's travel notes that they each paid the boatman $65,438+00 or $30.
If you want to feed the fish, you have to spend another $5 on small fish. Of course, this may be a message from a few years ago, but we should remind our friends. If you have arrived in Naivasha, can you not spend this money? But if you really spend 10 or even 30 dollars on a boat, patting 34D big breasts, I promise you will regret it!
There is a peninsula not far away, with several giraffes, zebras and wildebeests on it. We just got back from Masai Mara and said we were not interested at all.
There is a forest on the island, and it is estimated that more than 400 so-called birds live there. The problem is that the fence doesn't allow tourists to enter at all! The rest of the island, as shown above, is full of potholes and feces. There are also local people active on it, which is not original at all.
The original ecology of Amboseli ★★★★★★★ Animal species ★★★
Check into a hotel
Check in AALodge★★★
There seems to be only one hotel in Amboseli Reserve. Both AA where we live and Sopa where we used to live are outside Amboseli Reserve.
AmboseiliSopa is farther from the reserve, and the AmboseiliAALodge where we live is 20 minutes' drive from the reserve. alcoholic anonymous
Lodge has a nice environment, and there is a small garden in the hotel. However, the restaurant is in a big house, so you can't eat and watch the birds at the same time as in SumburuSopaLodge.
This hotel uses solar energy, so we dare not use too much hot water for fear that our friends in the back can't take a hot bath.
Reasons to play Samsung
Back to the point. The reason why Amboseli's original ecology is given three stars is because, like Nakuru, vehicles can only drive on artificially paved roads, and some original ecology is missing. Strictly speaking, animal species should not have only two stars, and it is difficult for tourists to see large carnivores in Amboseli. Zebras, wildebeests, elephants and some birds are the most popular.
The environment here is also relatively simple, similar to the domestic wetland park. So there are many kinds of animals in Amboseli, but from the tourist's point of view, there are not many things that can interest you, and the overall score is three stars.
Of course, if Amboseli is the first stop of the whole trip, it's not bad. But after we went to Masai Mara, we were tired of aesthetics, and there were no new species in Amboseli.
Two days are reserved here, entirely for Kilimanjaro. Sadly, however, it was cloudy for two consecutive days, and our driver Ruben refused to get up early, so we couldn't photograph the elephants gathered under Kilimanjaro Snow Mountain. It seems that our luck in Masai Mara has run out.
The origin of Amboseli's name
The driver told us that "Amboseli" refers to this small tornado in Marseille, which was later named directly after the reserve. Although the pictures on the map are all water and trees, the situation of land desertification in Amboseli Nature Reserve is really, really serious. There are only two wetlands in the whole reserve. Animals go to the wetland to drink the water at the foot of Kilimanjaro every morning and go back to sleep at the foot of the mountain at night. In the BBC documentary, elephants migrate 70 kilometers a day to find water, which may happen here.
A phenomenon was observed-almost all the land near the gate of the reserve has been desertified; The deeper you go, the more lush the vegetation is. Samburu is like this, Masai Mara is like this, Amboseli is like this. Can this explain that the more crowded the place, the worse the natural environment; The more inaccessible the place, the richer the plants and animals. I sincerely hope that Kenya can develop tourism resources in a controlled way like Tanzania.
Experience activities
On the second day in Amboseli, the so-called all-day hunting was to take us to see the wetlands in the distance. When vehicles are driving on the road, there are often scenes of green grass on the left side of the road and dusty on the right side. The driver couldn't say why, but explained that the snow at the top of Kilimanjaro could flow to the land on the left, so there was grass. But why the scenery across the road is so different is unknown.
Lunch was eaten on a small hill. Looking down from the top of the mountain, the scenery is average, but you can intuitively feel the landform of Amboseli. Wherever there is no water, it is desert. The companion said that it was similar to the Gobi Desert she had seen before.
Summary of Kenya's scenic spots Samburu: The dust is serious, and the dry season is mostly bushes, with little green grass. There are many kinds of animals, including large carnivores and unique ostrich species, which can be used as the first stop.
Nakuru: There are lush trees and green grass, as well as unique giraffe species, but they can only drive on the road, away from animals, which is tasteless.
Lake Boglia: You can see fragments of flamingos, but it depends on the weather whether you can photograph large pieces. It is recommended to reserve two hours.
Masai Mara: If you can only choose one protected area, choose here. Except for flamingos, there are all the species you can see in several other protected areas. Leave at least one full-day safari and have a chance to watch wildebeest cross the river. Two days is enough, three days is enough, and four days may be boring (unless you make up your mind to cross the river with wildebeest, it depends on luck).
Naivasha: You can see pelicans and another kind of black waterfowl. It's a long way. I really don't recommend going unless you think it's good to stay in a daze at the resort.
Amboselli: The dust is so serious that small tornadoes can be seen everywhere. Mainly to see elephants, I have the opportunity to see Kilimanjaro Snow Mountain, which is listed as the first stop by many travel agencies. According to the driver, the best viewing season of Amboseli is the rainy season from April to May. At this time, there was much grass and snow on the top of Kilimanjaro.
Recommended routes for different gameplay For children's shoes that value cost performance, the recommended route is:
Samburu for 2 days (arrive at noon the first day, watch it in the afternoon, and watch it all the next day), Boglia Lake 1 day (arrive at noon, watch it in the afternoon, and leave the next morning), Masai Mara for 2-3 days, Amboseli 1 day (if you are not interested in Kilimanjaro, you can not go).
If you can get the travel agency to agree to leave for Lake Boglia immediately after Safari in Samburu the next afternoon, you can shoot flamingos the next morning and go to Masai Mara immediately in the afternoon, thus saving 1 day.
For children's shoes from Tanzania and Kenya, the following suggestions are made:
Kenya only goes to Lake Boglia and Masai Mara. If you still want to shoot Kilimanjaro Snow Mountain, you will stay in Amboseli for a day or two, but whether you can shoot it depends on the weather. Of course, flamingos can also be seen in Tanzania, so you can only choose to go to Masai Mara and Amboseli.
For local children's shoes with unlimited money and time, I suggest:
On the basis of the itinerary, we added a tree house, a sweet water nature reserve and Mount Kenya, and stayed in Nakuru for two days. Naivasha can go or not.
