In which year and month did Typhoon Usagi occur?
On September 22, 2013, Typhoon No. 1319 "Usagi" made landfall on the coast of Shanwei City, Guangdong Province with a strong typhoon level. After landing, the center of the typhoon eye passed Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. Using conventional observation stations, satellite cloud images, wind profile radar and Doppler weather radar observation data, the impact of strong winds generated before and after the landing of Typhoon "Lepus" on Guangzhou Baiyun Airport was discussed. The results show that the time forecast for the impact of Typhoon Lepus on Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is accurate, but there are deficiencies in the forecast of the intensity and direction of the wind. Using sounding data, wind profile radar and Doppler weather radar, the analysis found that the asymmetric structure of the wind force of Typhoon "Lepus" was the cause of the forecast deviation. Wind profile radar and Doppler weather radar can well reflect the horizontal and vertical fine characteristics of typhoon wind fields.
