In order to comprehensively, systematically and accurately grasp the overall quality of soil environment in China, find out the present situation and causes of soil pollution in key areas, assess the risk of soil pollution, determine the safety level of soil environment, screen remediation technologies, build a system of laws, regulations and standards for soil pollution prevention and control suitable for China's national conditions, ensure the sustainable utilization of resources and protect people's health, the State Environmental Protection Administration took the lead in conducting a national soil pollution survey. Thunderstorms often occur during the sampling work, but this has not stopped our trip. In light rain, we put on waterproof clothing for sampling, and in heavy rain, we wait in the car until the rain subsides before sampling. How many times have our lower body been stained with mud, but we are still flattered and have no complaints.

The other is the sampling path. I remember when we first went to Eshan for sampling, some sampling points were located in the deep mountains. Because the road is rugged, basically dirt, bumpy and muddy, we can only drive at a speed of more than 20 kilometers per hour, so it takes five or six hours at most to get to a point, and we have to limp in the car for a long time every time. Sometimes it's very late to come back from sampling in the mountains, and I have to work for about ten hours every day except lunch time. I don't want to fall asleep with a little backache as soon as I get back to my residence at night.

Generally speaking, this sampling is difficult, but it is of great significance. We not only mastered the basic operation method of sampling, but also cultivated the spirit of unity and cooperation, and explored a set of effective methods, which laid a good foundation for future work.
