His greatest wish is to win the swimming competition and be Meng's boyfriend. Until that day, he listened to Amon without warning and revealed to him the secret she had been buried in her heart. ...

What kind of secret made Meng and Xiao Shi, two seventeen-year-old children, become adults overnight? What kind of secret makes children who don't know what philosophy is have to face the subject of life existence.

Therefore, they are no longer boyfriend and girlfriend, nor are they ordinary friends. They become a tangle. I've been struggling for a long time and I'm tired ...

They made an appointment to meet in front of a blue gate in the future, maybe three years later.

Film evaluation

It can be said that since 2000, the movies in Taiwan Province Province have brought people the greatest touch, that is, Yi Jinyan's Blue Gate (2003). The story inherits the long-lost fresh texture and brings an intriguing "youth story" to the adult world. Most of our memories of our school days seem to be about the budding of adolescence and love. The blackboard full of handwriting behind the teacher will turn into a piece of writing paper at any time in front of your eyes, which contains the love longing you mailed, as well as the pain and bitterness that were discarded. You cried and laughed at the illusory page, and every illusory daydream was condensed by a layer of pale blue melancholy. The blue door is actually a melancholy door, a bolt that you and I once stood together but were afraid to open. This is a story without knowing the plot. This film brings people back to the innocent age when countless secrets were buried. In the eternal memory, it flashes secretly with the sunshine at that moment, just like the poem that you and I are fascinated by.

Blue Gate is different from previous budding youth films. Facing the opposite sex and the same sex, girls' minds are confused. Of course, there are some rich children who don't care about sadness, while poor girls have other feelings. From the boy's point of view, the film is a simple film of budding youth and fantasy love, but in the subtle exposure of the girl, the film is divorced from youth love and turned to the confusion and maturity of life. Inadvertently, the film seems to have become somewhat profound.

Youth always loves fantasy. Boys have boys' fantasies, but it is extremely simple to express them. Girls look carefree, but their hearts are full of confusion. What sexual orientation do girls choose? What does the blue gate represent in the future commitment? Actually, they didn't consider it either. However, the film can only make people feel that youth is youth in the end.

Introduction to the film:

During World War II, a talented Polish Jewish pianist went into hiding to avoid falling into the hands of the Nazis. He suffered from hunger and humiliation in the Warsaw ghetto and was under the threat of death all day. He escaped the carpet search and hid in the ruins of the city. Fortunately, his musical talent touched a German officer. Under the protection of the officer's death, the pianist finally reached the end of the war and ushered in the dawn of freedom.

About movies:

This film is based on the autobiographical novel of Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman. Spearman was born in 19 1 1. He showed piano talent at an early age and was sent to Berlin for further study a few years later. His first solo concert at 1933 was well received in the European music scene. He became one of the youngest pianists in Poland after returning to China. 1939, Germany invaded Poland. As a Jew, Spearman's life was seriously threatened. His parents and relatives were sent to concentration camps one after another. He was forced to start a life of escape. With the help of his friends, he fled everywhere, waiting for help, and the shadow of death was always with him. Until a German officer who loves music was moved by his piano music and decided to take risks to protect young musicians. Under his protection, Spearman struggled until the end of World War II. He wrote this experience into a novel Dead City, which was published in 1946. However, the book was banned by the Soviet Union because it described the distrust of Polish Jews to the Soviet Union at that time. It was not until the 1990s that this book was rediscovered, renamed the pianist, and reissued in the United States, which made it a best seller of the new york Times. ...

Plot introduction

From 65438 to 0979, a film crew came to Lyme, a seaside town in the south of England, to film The French Captain's Woman.

The story of this film took place in the Victorian era more than 100 years ago. At that time, Charles, a young gentleman who loved geological exploration, came to Lyme Town from London to visit Freeman, the daughter of a wealthy businessman who was engaged to him. One day, when Charles and his fiancee went out for a walk, they suddenly found a woman in black standing at the end of the breakwater, staring at the sea. Charles learned from his fiancee that the woman's name was Sarah.

The actors who play Charles and Sarah in the film are Mike and Anna respectively. I don't know if they need to shoot. After filming, they lived as lovers.

Sarah was born in poverty. She is educated and loves painting, but her social status does not allow her to show her artistic talent, nor does she have the freedom to love and think. A woman in her position will either marry a farmer and have children or live in a big city as a prostitute. Sarah rebelled against her fate and fell in love with a French lieutenant who was shipwrecked, but when she found that the lieutenant was not worthy of her love, she resolutely broke off contact with him. She came to Lyme alone, and she often stared at the sea alone. However, in this feudal and conservative town, people thought that she was still missing the romantic Frenchman who abandoned her, so she was contemptuously called "the woman of the French lieutenant".

The vicar introduced Sarah to Mrs. Potani's house as a companion, and her wife asked Sarah to forget the French lieutenant completely and stop looking at the sea.

Sarah felt more depressed and lonely at her wife's house. She keeps secrets from her wife. She often walks along the seashore. She met Charles, who collected specimens at the seaside again and again. Charles is full of sympathy for her fate.

Charles will marry Freeman soon, but he has always been obsessed with Sarah's extraordinary temperament, and he is determined to help Sarah get rid of the current situation. He suggested that Sarah leave this suffocating town and go to London, but Sarah refused. Charles is puzzled by Sarah's words and deeds, but he has fallen in love with Sarah and can't extricate himself. He turned to Dr. grogan for help, and grogan thought Sarah was suffering from "hidden depression".

Sarah, with a strange personality, once despaired of the world, determined to accept the manipulation of bad luck in loneliness and get comfort in spiritual freedom, but the appearance of Charles made her unable to hide her inner excitement.

When Zara was dismissed for deliberately flouting Mrs. Bottani's teachings, it was rumored that Sarah was missing, and only Charles received a note from Sarah, which revealed Sarah's invisibility.

Charles didn't listen to Dr. grogan's advice and sent Sarah to a mental hospital for treatment. Instead, he persuaded Sarah to go to Exeter and asked his lawyer to give her the living expenses she needed.

Charles took a bus to Exeter to find Sarah, and they couldn't help falling in love. Charles was surprised to find that Sarah is still a virgin, and she has been silently enduring people's slander and misunderstanding of her. Charles was very excited by Sarah's sincere and strange feelings, and he was determined to cherish them.

Charles returned to Lyme Town and offered to dissolve his engagement with Freeman. Freeman's father asked his lawyer to draft an insulting confession and asked Charles to sign it. As a condition of breaking off the engagement, this confession will be published in the newspaper at any time. Charles resolutely signed a confession and left. However, when Charles came back for Sarah, she had already left the hotel and disappeared.

Charles spent three years looking for Sarah and finally received a telegram from his lawyer in Windermere. He learned that Sarah found a job as a tutor in an architect's home, and the owner was very friendly to her and encouraged her to paint freely. Charles and Sarah finally meet again. Charles blamed her for not leaving him for three years, and Sarah asked Charles to forgive the pain caused by her pursuit. Charles finally forgave Sarah, and they embraced in the bright sunshine.

Behind the scenes production

About movies: modern adaptation

The French captain's Woman, adapted from john fowles's novel of the same name, is a rare classic in English movies. Usually, as a film not adapted from the original, most of the confusion and emotion of the film are attributed to the charm of the original novel itself, but this film is different from other adapted films. Director Carol Ritz deconstructs this Victorian story through modern consciousness, thus producing a "film" with staggered time and space. The story in the original novel develops in one direction, but in the film, behind the story is another clue about the story of the hero and heroine, so what is displayed is that the same person, the same mutual admiration, different times and different life backgrounds, a pair of lovers eventually lead to completely different endings.

The bright line of the film is a story that happened in the Victorian era, and it exists in the state that a film is being filmed. In the story, Charles, a noble young master, from trying to help a mysterious woman named "French captain" to falling in love with her hopelessly, began to embark on a road he never thought of-resisting the dogma and bondage that imprisoned him in this era. When Charlie finally married Sarah in despair, he was surprised to find that he was Sarah's first man, so Sarah's image changed from being ridiculed by the secular for pursuing the freedom of love to being immersed in the depravity that others did not understand for a free idea. When Charlie gave up his engagement to a rich girl and was even forced to accept humiliating conditions to find Sarah, it was empty. At this time, the film had a small turning point, and the focus began to shift to the emotional entanglement between the hero and heroine outside the film.

This dark line has always existed as a foreshadowing clue. In the story of the bright line, Anna, the actress who plays Sarah, and Mike, the actor who plays Charlie, are always inserted into the scene of flirting and making love. With the development of their stories, their feelings are deeply involved. At the end of the film, the focus of the story returns to the love story between Sarah and Charlie. In the last location of the movie Windermere, Sarah and Charlie are reunited. After sharing their grievances and thoughts, they forgave each other and chose the beginning of a new life. They rowed across the dark bridge opening and rowed to the depths of happiness. Off-screen, Anna gave up Mike and finally chose her original life.

In the original novel, there are three different endings. The director Reitz uses images to compare the feelings of two different time and space, reflecting a sense of irony with the times: in the era when Victoria bound people to pursue freedom with the shackles of thought, Sarah, who was helpless and firm, chose to resist for love, but in the modern age where reason is supreme and freedom lasts forever, Anna finally could not get rid of the shackles of the secular and chose to escape peacefully. Sarah, a mysterious woman, is both good and evil in the film. Her dress, words and deeds all reflect the director's meticulous professionalism, isolating secular oppression with black clothes, expressing her yearning for freedom with watching the sea, and expressing her resistance to dogma with that monologue in the shade. As an independent person, she is neither Charlie's lover nor a person who needs pity. She only stayed with Charlie after she had completed her real pursuit of life. She has her own abilities and talents.

About the director: jumping out of the original

The novel The French Captain's Woman tells a sad story in the form of parody of Victorian novels, and reflects on that era from a contemporary perspective. The novel itself has the color of meta-narrative, and it is a dramatic and neat story. However, in 198 1, Carol Ritz first made a special change in the structure, and the designed "play-in-play" structure reflected the era and identity of the characters and endowed the film with richer connotations.

In addition to changing the structure, the film also greatly cuts down the narrative branches of the novel, and sorts out the stories that are loose because of many "digressions" in an orderly and compact way, which increases the visibility of the film, but at the same time reduces the unique attraction and mystery of the novel itself. The mysterious atmosphere of narrative can only be shown in the film through the black trench coat, stormy weather, pale cheeks and strange smiles. In addition, the film also changed the direction of an important potential circular structure in the novel, and successfully achieved this tampering through screen design. As a result of these changes, the reflective tension of the novel itself is flattened, making the film more "easy to understand" than the novel. However, the director skillfully transformed his adaptation of the novel into a performance of how a crew put the novel on the screen and how the performance process interacted with the emotional life of the actors, which incorporated a new interpretation of the original novel from a modern perspective.

Wonderful tidbits

In addition to its narrative skills of "film in film", this classic film has also become a classic in film history. Streep turned back from the seawall in black, which was thrilling and unforgettable.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1982, the equally outstanding French captain's woman was sacrificed by the American film Golden Pond and the British film Chariot of Fire.

The film was almost finished, and Mike felt that it was painful to break up with Anna, so he tried to get his wife to invite the film crew to dinner. He took this opportunity to beg Anna to have a serious talk with him, but Anna only said one word "Windermere", which was the name of the last location of the film.

After the last shot, the film crew held a get-together in the garden. Mike hurried to Anna's dressing room, only to find that there was no one in the building. He could only taste the loneliness after passion alone.
