Compared with other areas, residents in Zhangjiakou may have been accustomed to entering the cold weather prematurely, but many residents in Zhangjiakou were caught off guard by the sudden drop in temperature.

Before August, the temperature in Zhangjiakou had plummeted to zero degrees Celsius. This extreme weather has not only seriously affected the life of Zhangjiakou residents, but also caused huge economic losses to local residents who mainly grow crops.

The cold weather in Zhangjiakou is not a general cooling, mainly a cold wave.

Cold wave, as its name implies, is that cold air from polar regions or cold regions rushes to low latitudes by wind, which directly leads to the widespread influence of cold wave, strong wind and freezing damage in areas flooded by cold wave, and indirectly causes great losses to the economy of this area.

However, there are many peaks in Yuxian County in the south of Zhangjiakou, and it is difficult to enter Zhangjiakou in hot summer in North China Plain. However, there are many basins and valleys in the middle of Zhangjiakou, and after the cold air from the south was blocked again, a series of extreme weather such as hail, heavy precipitation and strong wind were triggered.
