Climatic characteristics of Tangshan

Climate affects all aspects of human life. According to meteorologists, Tangshan has a semi-humid and semi-arid temperate climate with the characteristics of both mountainous and marine climate. Affected by topography and ocean, there is no cold in winter, no heat in summer, four distinct seasons, and rain and heat in the same season.

There is no severe cold in winter because the northern part of Tangshan is the Yanshan Mountains, and cold air is often blocked from going south in winter. In addition, the sinking and warming effect makes the temperature higher than that of the surrounding Qinhuangdao and Chengde, and the climate with the Great Wall as the boundary is quite different. There is a saying called "two days in customs."

Because Tangshan faces the Bohai Sea in the south, it is not hot in summer. Bohai Sea is a huge natural air conditioner, and the sea breeze is cool and pleasant.

The four seasons are distinct, because Tangshan is located in the world-famous East Asian monsoon region. Winter and summer are controlled by completely different air masses, and the wind directions are almost opposite.

The same season of rain and heat is due to the fact that the water vapor that affects the precipitation in Tangshan mainly comes from the low-level southerly airflow from the South China Sea to the western Pacific Ocean and the Bay of Bengal to North China. In the hot summer, the low-altitude southerly airflow is strong, which transports a lot of water vapor and unstable energy to Tangshan and produces heavy precipitation through a certain trigger mechanism. In winter, the southerly airflow is weak and the precipitation is weak.
