Why is Kuqa called Qiuci?

According to records, in the late Tang Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty, after the demise of the Uighur khanate, a large number of Uighurs moved westward into Qiuci, and later the Karahan Dynasty was established, and Qiuci became the territory of the Karahan Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, after the imperial court put down Zhunbu, Daxiao and Zhuo, it changed to Kusan's new transliteration, namely "Kuche", which has been used ever since.

Kuqa City is located at the southern foot of the Middle Tianshan Mountains and the northern edge of the Tarim Basin, with a geographical location of 40 46 ′-42 35 ′ north latitude and 82 35 ′-84 ′ east longitude17 ′. It is adjacent to luntai county, Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Yuli County in the southeast, Taklimakan Desert in the south, Shaya County in the southwest and Shaya County in the west.
