1 cyclone

It's always hot and windy on the prairie in Kansas. The scorching sun and strong winds make everything gray. They dyed the grass gray and the flowers gray. They turned the house gray, and even people's faces turned gray.

Dorothy lives in the middle of the prairie in Kansas. She lives with her uncle Henry and aunt Em. Uncle Henry has a small farm there. Their house is made of wood and has only one room.

There is not much furniture in it. There is an old stove for cooking and a cupboard for cups and plates. There is a table, three or four chairs and two beds. Uncle Henry and Aunt Em's big beds are in a corner. Dorothy's crib is in another corner.

No attic, no real basement. There is only a small black hole under the floor. When there is a whirlwind, the whole family goes. They call this hole "cyclone cellar". Cyclones are strong winds. They are very dangerous. They moved quickly and destroyed everything on the road. There are often tornadoes in Kansas.

The Wizard of Oz tells the story of a little girl named Dorothy. It describes the adventure that she and her dog were taken to the magical country of Oz in the hurricane. There, she met a kind witch. She told her to go to emerald city and asked the magician to help her go home.

Dorothy went to emerald city along the yellow brick road, and made three friends on the way: the scarecrow, the tin woodcutter and the timid lion. When they arrived in emerald city, the guide told them that, first of all, they must kill the evil witch in the west. So the four friends set out again to find the place where the terrible witch lived.

The Wizard of Oz is a modern fairy tale. Baum mixed reality (scarecrow and cornfield) with the fantasy and magic of traditional European fairy tales (wizards and witches). Dorothy lives on the dry gray prairie in Kansas.

Her life is boring, and her dog Toto is her only friend. Oz is full of color. There are castles, talking animals, witches and dark forests. She created a new magician and had many exciting adventures. But at last Dorothy realized that there is no place like home!

Lyman? Frank. Baum was born in Chitnango, a small town in new york. His father is a rich businessman. Frank has eight brothers and sisters and had a happy childhood.

He is a shy and quiet boy with poor health. He didn't go to school, but studied at home with his teacher. He likes reading. His favorite story is the traditional European fairy tale, but he doesn't like the violent and fearful creatures in it.

When he was 44 years old and wrote The Wizard of Oz, he wanted to write a different fairy tale.

Baum did a lot of work before he became a successful writer. He is a journalist, chicken breeder, salesman and actor. He runs his own theater and writes plays for it. He even has a shop.

But most of his career ended in failure. 1882, Baum married Modgage. They have four sons.

From 65438 to 0897, he wrote a book of nursery rhymes in the form of stories: geese in the form of prose. The book sold so well that Baum decided to stop working and concentrate on writing. 1900, he published The Wizard of Oz, which was an immediate success.

Baum died on May 6th of 19 19 and was buried in California.
