Sina Sports News At 20:00 Beijing time on May 27, the F1 Monaco Grand Prix race was held at the Monte Carlo circuit held. Red Bull driver Mark Webber won the championship in his first start, Mercedes-Benz driver Nico Rosberg was runner-up, and Ferrari driver Alonso was third, achieving his pre-race goal of taking the stage.
From fourth to tenth are: Vettel, Hamilton, Massa, Di Resta, Hulkenberg, Raikkonen and Bruno Senna. Michael Schumacher, who started in sixth place, unfortunately retired in the second half of the race due to a car problem.
Before the race
Monaco is the sixth race of F1 this season. In the previous 5 races, 5 different race champions were produced.
Starting from pole position today is Red Bull Racing’s Mark Webber. P2~P5 are: Rosberg, Hamilton, Grosjean and Alonso. Although Michael Schumacher, the seven-time F1 champion, made the fastest lap in Q3 yesterday, he was penalized 5 places and started from sixth place because he rear-ended Bruno Senna in the previous race.
P7~P10 are: Massa, Raikkonen, Vettel and Hulkenberg. Among them, Massa's starting position has been greatly improved, which is worthy of recognition. McLaren's Jenson Button was eliminated from Q2 yesterday and could only start from 12th today.
In terms of tires, the formula Pirelli brought to this race is super-soft + soft, and super-soft tires are used for the first time.
Start
After the start, Webber successfully held the lead, followed by Rosberg and Hamilton. Grosjean, the Lotus driver in P4, was preventing an attack from Alonso behind him when his left rear wheel collided with Schumacher's right front wheel on the left. The car lost control and spun across the outside of Turn 1.
After one lap, the order of the top ten is: Webber, Rosberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Vettel, Raikkonen, Schumacher, Hulkenberg and Jr. Senna.
Slow-motion replay showed that when Grosjean lost control and went sideways, Maldonado, who started at the bottom, collided with the HRT driven by De La Rosa. The race meeting immediately decided to dispatch a safety car. The damaged FW4 was lifted off the track by a crane, and Grosjean's E20 was also pushed off the track. Although de la Rosa drove the car back to the pits, he still ended up with Grosjean. , like Maldonado, withdrew from the game.
The safety car finally left the track on the fourth lap. The Sauber team continued to suffer misfortune, and Kobayashi retired on the 10th lap.
After 15 laps, Webber was in the lead, widening the gap between Rosberg in second place to 2.0 seconds, followed by Hamilton 1.9 seconds later. Ferrari's car looked slightly slower at this time, with Alonso 4.2 seconds behind Hamilton.
Overall, the top ten seats have not changed at all.
On lap 17, Caterham driver Petrov retired from the race due to an electronic system failure.
The long first round of pit stops
As the race progressed, the weather forecast said that there would be showers, which made almost all teams decide to stick to the track and temporarily No pit stops. Raikkonen of the Lotus team was struggling the most. His tires were seriously worn out and it was very difficult for Schumacher to chase him.
On the 27th lap, this situation was finally broken. Nico Rosberg in P2 made the first decision to pit. Strategy guru Ross Brown is obviously unwilling to take risks anymore.
Two laps later, Webber, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg, Senna, Alonso and Schumacher also made the same choice one after another. Vettel, who started in ninth place on hard tires (yellow label soft tires), instantly became the new leader on the track. The German's different tactics meant his first stop would be late.
On lap 35, the top ten were ranked in order: Vettel, Webber, Rosberg, Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Ricciardo, Button, Schumacher and Vergne. Among them, Ricciardo and Button are both drivers who started outside the top ten and have not yet pitted. Ferrari's pit stop was a success, with Alonso overtaking Hamilton. Lotus failed, Raikkonen fell out of the top ten, and the Finnish Iceman had the only remaining car.
On lap 39, Jenson Button pitted. The Briton put on a set of super-soft tires, but after exiting the pit, he was pushed behind by a Caterham. The position was very unfavorable. He competed today. Points are going to be difficult. Ricciardo made his first stop on lap 41.
On lap 42, raindrops began to fall from the sky, but they quickly disappeared. Vettel, who did not pit, continued to lead. The German had an advantage of 17.4 seconds over his P2 teammate Webber. From P3 to P10, in order: Rosberg, Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Schumacher, and Verg. Ni, Di Resta and Hulkenberg, Raikkonen fell to 11th.
On lap 46, Vettel finally came into the pits. The German put on super-soft tires and got stuck in front of Hamilton after returning to the track. At this point, all drivers have completed one stop, and Webb resumes his status as the leader.
Epilogue
As the race entered the final 30 laps, the sky became darker and darker, and the weather became the primary focus of attention. Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher unfortunately retired from the race when his car suffered a hydraulic failure on lap 66.
Starting from lap 68, the rain finally started to show signs of heavy rain, and the road grip began to be affected to a certain extent. This put a lot of pressure on the leader Mark Webber, with Rosberg, Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton and Felipe Massa closely chasing after the five cars.
Toro Rosso's Vergne changed his face and decided to give it a try. He pitted first and put on medium tires. But it was not as good as God, and then the raindrops stopped again.
In the last 6 laps of the race, there was no change in ranking. Mark Webber finally won this long race. He was also the sixth driver to win the race this season.
Rosberg of Mercedes-AMG Racing Team crossed the line second and finished second. Ferrari's Alonso finished third, achieving his goal of taking the stage. From fourth to tenth are: Vettel, Hamilton, Massa, Di Resta, Hulkenberg, Raikkonen and Senna.
After the end of this race, Alonso now leads the standings with 76 points, while Vettel and Webber are second with 73 points. In terms of team points, Red Bull leads the way with 146 points. F1's next race will be held in Canada.
